Located in the heart of Tel Aviv, Nina Hachi offers a wide variety of expertly prepared Asian dishes. The Sushi is quite good.
I enjoyed a large bean noodle salad, with Shitake mushrooms, ginger and thinly sliced cucumbers in a light sweet and sour dressing with small roasted tofu cubes. The gossamer noodles were thoughtfully cut, so they could be neatly managed with chopsticks. Important for anyone eating this on a date.
The indoor seating atmosphere is slightly cafeteria-like, but nicely air-conditioned , Since Tel Aviv is hot and humid in the summer, sitting out of doors can be less attractive. Also, if you sit indoors you can watch the food being prepped.
All this is secondary of course, because, hey, you're here for the food; right?
The wait-staff is attentive and reasonably well acquainted with the large menu.
Servings, except for the miso soup (which is flavorful and fresh,) are generous.
Reservations are not required, andif you come early, say 6-ish, you will have a variety of seating...
ย ย ย Read moreEnjoyed the food, but felt as if the restaurant tried to cover too many bases ethnic-cuisinewise. The Gyoza were superb, spicy fried tofu was delicious. The sushi salad was well liked by our companions as was the salmon pad thai. I opted for the Szechuan beef noodles. The beef was plentiful and tender. But the noodles in the dish were just wrong. Too much like spaghetti. And Szechuan cuisine is spicy, but this wasn't. I was forewarned, but still... .... some kick, at least, please. The wait staff made up for it by bringing a saucer of chili oil which saved the dish for me. Ambiance was nice, our waitress was a character and we were attentively looked after by no less than 3 wait staff, all efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Service was quick, pricing was very affordable. I'm going back but bringing some hot sauce...
ย ย ย Read moreI wanted to give it another chance and try it again but I was sorely disappointed yet again. Too bad because itโs one of the few kosher sushis in Tel Aviv .. my salmon sushi was so dry I nearly choked on it and had to ask for mayo for the first time (which didnโt make much of a difference). The rice isnโt great and the layer of avocado on top was shaved so thinly I hardly tasted anything. I ordered another 6 pieces option (California) and asked if it has the fake crab (as California sushi usually does), I was told it doesnโt but an adjustment could be made.. yet I payed 27 shekel instead of 18-didnโt think the price would be augmented! All in all I forced it down and didnโt enjoy it at all. Very expensive for small sushi. Great service however, the waitress was even bilingual...
