WORST SERVER/WAITRESS EVER but the food was delicious. For starters, I do not ever write reviews but I felt compelled to after my experience here. I am visiting from NYC where I eat out often and have been traveling around a bit to a few different countries over the past month and I have to say the blonde server with the pony tail who was wearing a neon green sports outfit was the ABSOLUTE RUDEST waitress Ive encountered in recent memory.
First, I was sitting down for approximately 15 minutes waiting for the server to acknowledge me. I had to wave down the hostess, who was VERY NICE to get her to come to my table. Once there I proceeded to try to order an egg white omelette. Now there was probably a slight language barrier as I speak english and her first language hebrew (although she did speak english) which I think caused some confusion but I don't think its an excuse to lie and pretend you know what i'm talking about and then rush me through my order.
when trying to order an egg white omelette she rudely snapped saying "I don't understand." I tried to explain in another way, "omelette without the yolk." She sat there impatiently as i tried to explain looking around like she had somewhere else to be other than sitting down trying to take my order. She then seemingly understood what I was talking about and then LIED saying it was IMPOSSIBLE.
I knew this had to be incorrect so I took out my phone to help translate as she again sat there impatiently looking around and looking annoyed. Once I translated she said , "oh yeah we can do this." And without asking me if I was even done with ordering sprinted away. If she had been professional and patient enough and asked me if I wanted anything else I would have ordered one of the small appetizers as well. So unfortunately the restaurant lost money.
Then when she brought my water she practically slammed it down on the table. Once I finally got my food she never came to check on me.
When I finally got her to come to the table to check me out she asked if I wanted to TIP which i replied "no." I was so irritated by her poor service I barely enjoyed how delicious the food was. Had it been up to me I would have rather went to the kitchen and told the cook my order and waited on it myself.
After not tipping, she took my card to pay and then threw it down on the table and I watched it slide in front of me lol.
Suggestions: 1) Be more attentive -check on your customers ask if they want anything else. You can make the restaurant more money that way and if your service is good you get a bigger tip. 2) Be patient!! I know its busy , I worked in a restaurant myself many years ago, but your customers should feel that they have your undivided attention. I don't mind us having to take a minute and I do mean 1 MINUTE to understand each other. I ABSOLUTELY HATED WAITING for her to serve me only to feel like I was an inconvenience to her and was apparently taking too long. 3) DON"T LIE and pretend you understand what I'm talking about. Tel aviv is an international city with many visitors. If you don't understand take the minute to better translate the order whether it be by the customer getting out their phone or you getting a staff member that can help.
Again food was...
Read moreA great cafe that's mostly known for its generous breakfasts, but recently I got to sit here twice for dinner, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the huge size of the dishes & the great value for money.
On the first time, I sat with a friend for a casual drink and snacks - we ordered the roast beef plate (served with 2 small bread toast slices) and the delicious cauliflower salad, both were very good and were just enough to snack aside a glass of white wine.
On the second time, we were 3 adults and ordered basically half the menu, all for sharing. The service was super kind and since we first sat in quite a small table, as soon as they noticed that we won't have enough space for all the food we ordered, they immediately suggested that we move to a bigger table, without us even asking, so that was highly appreciated.
For starters we ordered the roast beef plate & the cauliflower salad (as they both were super successful last time), white fish ceviche, tomatoes & stracciatella salad, artichoke salad - all were very large portions, more than starters in any other cafe in this area (which are usually quite small & pricy).
For main course we also shared everything - schnitzel served with mashed potato (the schnitzel itself was huge and super crispy) & the fish pasta with lemon butter sauce that was very generous and the fish was perfectly cooked.
To conclude, if you're looking for a casual cafe around the area that serves great food with high value for money - this is definitely has become my first...
Read morefood was great and the portions were even better- the single breakfast was huge! a nice inexpensive stop for breakfast with an authentic tel avivian atmosphere. The service was amazing and they even handed us free ice cream since it was so hot outside! Only thing is the place is usually really crowded and in our case the people that sat beside us really didn’t respect personal space so it wasn’t the greatest experience in that aspect- unfortunately we couldn’t really converse or eat properly because they were constantly smoking right on us and talking loudly. It’s not the cafe’s fault but do keep in mind that the place could get crowded...
