We had heard nothing but good things about Milgo from friends and booked a table to celebrate an important birthday
Seating: we were sat at the far edge of the bar almost inside the back of the kitchen with waiters constantly brushing past us as they brought out or returned food. 3 parties who arrived after us and were supposed to be seated next to us immediately complained and refused to sit down. We were in a celebratory mood and didn’t want to spoil the evening complaining but it was a mistake not to mention that those seats as well as the seats next to them should not even be offered to guests paying for a “premium” dining experience
Experience: the waitress never checked on us, how the food was, or if we were happy with our experience. She came, threw down plates, and left. No one from the staff acknowledged the birthday we were celebrating mentioned clearly on the online reservation, and in a phone call before arrival. I don’t expect free dessert or VIP treatment, anyone can lie about a birthday as well, but it was a special night for us and the care for the quality of our experience, birthday or not, was nowhere to be seen.
Food: The croquettes were great, although quite expensive at almost 40 shekels a person for one bite.. we also got the seafood ziti and egg yolk pasta, both highly recommended by the waitress and they were disappointing. The ziti sauce was so watery it was hard to coat the pasta, and it was quite salty. The yolk pasta sauce was a broken emulsion and the pasta was very chewy. Disappointed in the food quality for such expensive dishes.
I’ve always heard such good things about Milgo, and it was only our first time there. Maybe it was one bad experience, or maybe it has just fallen off over time. I also see their staff doesn’t seem to reply or acknowledge low reviews on the platform so maybe they also just don’t care, they have a good name and overall good reviews.
I hope the review is helpful and can maybe push them to improve. I personally might try to give it a second chance since I don’t think it’s fair to judge on one experience alone but I won’t be back anytime soon for that chance with how this experience felt and the price I ended up paying...
Read moreFantastic place. Went there during the lunch menu, we were seated in the upstairs bar looking towards the window (I recommend for couples).
The menu was small but seemed to be well rounded.
We had for starters the tuna starter, the beef tartar and the pulenta.
The starters were all good. But I want to focus on the tuna dish, which was fantastic! Raw red tuna in vinaigrette served with a perfect hala bread... This was my favorite dish!
The pulenta was also good, a lot of mushrooms and leek.
The beef tartar was my least favorite but also nice.
We also got some great bread.
For our mains we had the fish patties and the shpondra.
The shpondra was good and the buns were soft and pillowee.
The fish patties in tomato sauce with a side of yogurt with zhug was fantastic.
The sides were also good.
All together I had little to complain about the food.
For dessert we chose the chocolate nemesis, it was a bit overly sweet and I wish I would have had more salty caramel. But still good.
For drinks, I was kind of disappointed at the selection, I would have liked to see a full wine menu, but the two wine glasses that I had were good enough. But I missed the selection.
The Chablis was really tasty and they Forte was even better.
As long as they change up the menu from time to time, I will definitely be back,
I think they need a larger selection of starters.
All together, great place, well...
Read moreI came to Milgo and Milbar with high expectations on a Friday evening.
We ordered a salad, a midsize dish of trigger fish, the crab and shrimp pasta, a duck breast with bacon, and the crack pie for dessert. With 2 glasses of and the total came to 600 nis.
The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant is located in a very nice area of Tel Aviv just across of the bima theatre.
The decor is high end as is appropriate for a restaurant of this kind and the service was very good, we were shown our table and the waitress recommended a few dishes and wines was very accommodating in general.
Other than the salad, I was dissapointed with all the dishes. I just expected so much more especially due to their price. A pasta with two shrimps and a little bit of crab meat was 130+ NIS which tasted just off. The flavours didn't seem to complement each other. Maybe its the sauce but I was just underwhelmed. The duck was decent but the sides (if you can call them sides) didn't seem to fit in the dish.
The crack pie was ok but for 54 NIS I expected much much. The crack pie from the M25 is 5 levels above and 20 NIS cheaper. The Menu was different than what is shown on the website catching us off guard - the wine was 10-20 NIS more expensive than on the website.
To sum things, if you like to eat with your eyes and don't mind overpaying for mediocre food this a place...
