One of the Worst Dining Experiences I've Ever Had
We booked our table early to ensure a smooth birthday dinner and to feed my 1.5-year-old granddaughter on time. What followed was an unmitigated disaster from start to finish.
Despite being seated in a completely empty private room with 4 or 5 vacant tables, things fell apart quickly. Drinks and starters arrived promptly, and we thought we were in good hands. We were wrong.
After 40 minutes, with no sign of our mains, I asked—politely—what the delay was. I received a feeble excuse about “pressure in the kitchen” despite the restaurant being at 50% capacity at best. Eventually, everyone’s meal arrived—except mine. My steak took another 20 minutes, and when it finally landed on the table, it was ice cold, along with a congealed, equally cold pepper sauce. I sent it back.
By this point, everyone had finished their meal—except me. The replacement steak arrived another 15 minutes later, and shockingly, it was once again cold. As was the sauce. Again.
I complained—bitterly—and the manager could only shrug and offer another useless excuse: “I have no control over the kitchen.” Absolutely pathetic.
This place is a masterclass in indifference. The service is appalling, the kitchen utterly incompetent, and the management is spineless. A birthday dinner ruined, a toddler left waiting, and a guest (me) left hungry and infuriated.
Avoid this restaurant like the plague. They clearly do not care about their...
Read moreAnyone who is a beer lover will enjoy visiting Porter & Sons. The beer selection is excellent, over 50 beers on the standard menu and over 100 total if you include the rotating and off menu items (yes, that is A LOT of beers)
The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, providing insight and suggestion to which beers to try next. If you are unsure, you can always ask for a taste of a specific beer and they are happy to provide.
Atmosphere wise, it has a pub vibe, somewhat rustic, with a pleasant crowdedness to it. Good music is playing at a reasonable volume so holding a conversation is very easy.
There is a nice selection of food on the menu, mainly food that goes well with beer (shockingly), the dishes I tried were very tasty and appropriate.
In regards to the price. well. Porter & Sons won't win any awards for "cheapest beer in Israel", not by a long shot. but I think the pricing is fair for the quality and atmosphere in the bar. I wouldn't call it expensive, but it isn't cheap at 34-39 NIS for a .5 liter mug of beer. The food is also not exactly cheap, but definitely not expensive at around 50-70 NIS for the standard dishes (The spare ribs are excellent, but more expensive obviously)
In summary, EXCELLENT selection of beer, very nice and helpful staff, good food and overall a good price point for what you get.
Easy 5/5 and the best part is you can go dozens of times and try a new beer...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Porter and Sons in Tel Aviv, and I must say, it was an incredible culinary experience. The restaurant was bustling and full of people, but the staff handled the rush with grace and professionalism.
One thing to note is that the prices at Porter and Sons are a bit on the higher side. However, in my opinion, the quality of the food and the dining experience more than justifies the cost. It's definitely a restaurant that's worth splurging on every now and then.
We started with the pork chops, which were cooked to absolute perfection. The exterior was crispy and well-seasoned, while the interior was juicy and tender. It was truly a mouth-watering dish.
The sirloin steak was also incredible. It was cooked to our desired temperature and the flavor was absolutely amazing. I've had a lot of steaks in my life, but this was easily one of the best I've ever had. The meat was incredibly tender and packed with flavor.
In short, Porter and Sons is a must-try for anyone visiting Tel Aviv. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is simply amazing. It may be a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth it every now and then. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly delicious...
