If one's customer orders 1x"alla vecchia maniera"(9€) and 1x"La Composta"(8€) to share between 5, one does not simply decide in the kitchen to double the portion of the "alla vecchia maniera" and triple the portion of the "La Composta" without consulting said customer. As the manager, it is unprofessional to approach the mix up by first blaming the waiter, then the kitchen staff, and finally the customer. It is unacceptable to change the quantity of orders without the customer's knowledge and to then argue with the customer over the number of slices of meat on the plate (according to the manager, it's 8€ for one slice of veal). We paid 24€ for a vegetable antipasti, 8€ more than the most expensive secondi piatti. This was unbelievable. To top off the shocking service, the roast pork that 2 of us ordered was dry...
Read moreIts my favourite restaurant in Alba. On my first visit I was the only customer.. for about 10 minutes and then suddenly it was full... with regulars. In this case you get to sit on long wooden benches at shared tables. Great food and a great atmosphere. The assistant chef specialised in desserts while at college... yum yum "can you translate this into English - I don't recognise the dish?"... that's because it is the chefs invention. Local colleagues say its a good place to go if you want good quality non complicated...
Read moreDisappointing. Went to alba with friends to taste white truffle. I ended up being said that only black truffle was available, and it must be ordered in advance. Pity that I booked the table in advance but nobody was informing… the rest is our lunch: good but… uovo morbido al tartufo nero, tasty, but cheese fondue was covering the scratched truffle; tajarin con tartufo nero… well cooked, but once again tasteless truffles. A real pity because restaurant and its location were rally good, and staff very caring....
