My Wife and I went to Clipper on Saturday evening for a very disappointing time.
On arrival we were offered a table inside although on making the booking earlier in the week we were told that the outside area was reserved for smokers. As we went into the restaurant we asked if we could sit in the outside area but was informed it was fully booked but not just for smokers.
After we were seated and the waiter brought a dish with three fish on it - a turbot, sea bass, sea bream and some prawns and were informed that this was the choice for the evening. None of the fish were something that I would normally have chosen although my Wife decided on the prawns. I asked for the turbot to be grilled and was informed that this was not possible and that it would have to be oven baked.
I then asked for a menu and we were informed that this was only for “Special” guests and as this was our first visit we did not qualify. The guests being offered the menu were long standing and were therefore treated differently to first timers such as ourselves. I told the waiter that I had assumed that all diners were equal and asked him to leave us alone and not come back.
The meal arrived and was disappointing in that there was very little fish from the turbot and it was swimming in a liquid which I did not enjoy. I prefer my fish without sauce which is why I requested it to be grilled. My Wife’s potatoes that had not arrived with the prawns, came some while later with burnt skins and were luke warm as were her prawns as she had waited for the full meal before eating. We decided just to eat the meal without further complaint as befitted our lowly station in life as first timers.
We then ordered a desert which in fairness was very enjoyable.
A member of staff who we had not had any contact with before queried if we had enjoyed the meal which was not the best thing to have asked us. We both said No and asked to speak to the owner or manager.
Shortly after a very pleasant lady came and spoke with us and we explained that the complaint was not to try and reduce the price. I subsequently paid Euros 170 for our two mainly disappointing meals.
We were offered all sorts of apologies but these did not detract from the feeling of being inferior to long standing customers.
The lesson is do not just accept was is initially offered as there is more beyond the “catch...

My recent visit to Clipper Porto Cervo was a culinary experience worth highlighting. The cozy and elegant atmosphere of the restaurant sets the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable evening, but it is the food and service that truly elevate the experience.
Starting with the main course, the bistecca fiorentina was undoubtedly the star of the night. Cooked to perfection, the meat was perfectly seasoned, with a crispy outer crust that revealed a juicy and tender interior. The fiorentina not only met but exceeded expectations, offering an authentic experience that captures the essence of Tuscan cuisine.
Desserts, although usually playing a secondary role in most meals, stood out here with the same strength as the main courses. The pistachio ice cream, in particular, deserves special mention. Its creamy texture and the intense, authentic pistachio flavor were a true delight. Every spoonful was a reminder of why this flavor is a classic in Italian gelato.
Finally, I cannot close this review without giving special mention to the service. From the moment we arrived until we left, the staff at Clipper Porto Cervo was attentive, courteous, and extremely professional. Every detail was meticulously cared for, ensuring that our experience was not only satisfying but exceptional.
In summary, Clipper Porto Cervo not only meets the expectations one might have of a restaurant of its caliber but exceeds them. Whether it's for the exquisite bistecca fiorentina, the delicious desserts, or the impeccable service, it's a place I recommend...
Read moreBooked a table after passing by a couple of times and seeing it quite busy. Overall good food but quite pricey (prawn salad for €16 with 4 prawns, some avocado and a lot of lettuce). But main reason for 3 stars is the service, or more precisely our server, who was this super intense lady operating as if she had had a gallon of coffee. She almost forced us to have the super expensive blue lobster, and took it personally when we politely declined. After that the service was very poor, slow and forced, and she pretended as if we weren’t there as she bustled at the nearby tables. We really wanted dessert, but given how long we had to wait for our plates to be cleared, we had to leave. I have to say I saw the owners helping in another part of the restaurant, and they were great. I did flag one of them for the bill, and she brought it to us within 30 seconds with a smile. So while overall it was a disappointing experience, I think it was largely due to where we were seated and...
