I was here at 10:20pm, the place was empty. It was the only open gelateria and we decided to close a perfect day in Arona with a sweet treat. Unfortunately the experience was negative, mainly due to the encounter with the only person who was attending the place. Rude, borderline aggressive. I ordered a one-flavor cone and while I she was preparing my ice cream (in a hurry) she already seems impatient. My husband took a fraction of a minute to choose what he wanted and she was clearly irritated. We told her that we would pay with a card, but she kept saying "cash, cash”, we understood that she was not accepting card at the moment so we gave her cash. To our surprise, the price for two single-flavor ice creams was €3.20 each. We have been in Italy for 5 weeks and we have never paid more than 2.80 even in Milan, which is one of the most expensive places we have been. €6.40 for two one flavor cones. Without a receipt, without saying thank you and literally throwing us the change (coins) over the glass counter. We were speechless over her aggressiveness and awful manner. I don't know if she had has a bad day or it's just her normal. the whole experience in Arona either in restaurants, bars and even in the Hotel has been more than excellent in service and quality, except in Marcella Gelateria. In terms of quality, the ice cream is average to low and the cone is not waffle but a cheap cone like those in a box you get at the supermarket.
If you can avoid this place, walk just a few blocks and you will find three or more ice cream parlors and probably with better attention...
Read moreThe granite was OK, not having natural flavor like in other gelaterias but still OK. The ice-cream was completely tasteless, I took nocciola and pistachio and i couldn't note the difference between the two flavors, only through the colors I could guess what I was eating. Everything was served in plastic, nothing was "compostable". This is nowadays not acceptable anymore. Stuff was not friendy either. I don't like giving bad reviews, this is why I am not giving...

It is usually busy, especially during the high season, but I always pay a visit when I'm in Arona. They also have a second store located in Corso Marconi. Highly...
