Le Palafitte — Restaurant in Bardolino

After a long day travelling to Bardolino from Aberdeen, Scotland, our hotel recommended Le Palafitte as it is literally just 2 minutes walk away. Hotel couldn't secure a booking, but, we were assured, they also accommodate walk-ins. On arrival, it was packed both out door and inside. Within 5 minutes waiter found us an indoor table and drinks were dispatched to our table very quickly. Despite being very busy, our waiter was both courteous and informative of the dishes on menu, making recommendations etc. All in all a relaxing end to a hectic day travelling, checking in, unpacking etc. We had a week in Bardolino and dined here on two further occasions, booking outdoor table with the most amazing lake view, so romantic.(My photos taken on one of those occasions.) We were looking for a place to eat that had easy parking and a view of the lake, as well as good food, of course. Le Palafitte fitted the bill perfectly. It has a small car park, and a grass area between that and the restaurant. We hadn't booked so we were asked to wait outside, right beside the lake. We found a conveniently placed bench and watched the sun go down. About twenty minutes later our table was ready. The service was fine, unrushed. I had a great pizza and my wife opted for the sea bass with tiramisu and torta della nonna to follow. Exquisite. The bill wasn't too expensive either, just over 50 euro. My partner and I have just spent 5 days on Lake Garda and 3 of those were at the lovely Locanda Le Palafitte. We received a warm welcome from the family who own the hotel and couldn't have been more satisfied with our lovely room with excellent air conditioning, good sized bathroom and comfortable bed. Breakfast was very nice also and we took the opportunity to hire bikes for the very reasonable price of €5 per day from the hotel and cycled to Lasize one day and Garda the next which was an excellent way to cool down in the unusually high temperature.
