Osteria Alla Caneva — Restaurant in Bassano del Grappa

Lovely osteria in the historical heart of Bassano. The owner was so kind to explain the menu to us (I’m Italian but I don’t come from that area).

We started with a delicious antipasto to share (which included local salami, cheese, lentils and a type of roasted polenta - another favourite of mine!), and as main I had ravioli cacio e pepe. I would have personally cut down a bit on the oil but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The portions were generous which is always a plus for me.

The restaurant is in the old alpine style, which I loved and made me feel comfortable and relaxed.

All in all a great experience, I would definitely recommend Osteria...

We are visiting Bassano Del Grappa for a few days after checking into our apartment reservation. We were in search of outstanding authentic Italian cuisine close by. Two our surprise 6 blocks away was a fabulous 4.6 star restaurant on goggle reviews. It definitely was that and so much more. The owner our host and waitress for the evening was very kind, energetic, and willing to help two 70+ seniors translate their menu options. WOW! Incredible experience. Everything was delicious and prepared with care, from the seasonal local dishes to the homemade pasta, polenta, and porcini mushrooms. The house starter was a perfect introduction to traditional Veneto cuisine. Great selection of local wines and very friendly staff. Located in the heart of magical Bassano del Grappa, just a short walk from the historic Ponte degli Alpini. Highly recommended, I’ll definitely be back. Booking in advance...
