Awesome little deli/cafe like many great Italian cafes nestled right among where the locals live. Located away from the tourist hotspot of Bellagio ( about 20-30 minute walk ) means it is more of a local meeting spot than a tourist destination. We discovered it while wandering around San Giovanni about 7.30 pm and the lovely lady who served us whipped up a panini and platter along with two excellent coffees. Being a deli as well it was nice to see all the ingredients being selected and prepared fresh from the fridge no pre sliced meat cheese or pre prepared salad and as a result the food was delicious. The service was warm and welcoming and our limited Italian didn’t impact on this in anyway. We also had an opportunity to chat to a friendly local who was very keen to know more about the Sunshine Coast in QLD where we live. I think he was wanting to practice his English after a couple of Beers 😀 We returned again this morning for our coffee fix and will be returning again before we leave. I highly recommend Nene Food if you are looking for a genuine village deli/cafe for a light meal or drink away from the...
Read moreTo my fellow Americans- beware. The people in this small village all know each other and do not seem to appreciate Americans being around. My family and I were glared at, and ignored on 2 separate occasions trying to get some food to eat. Both times we were told “no food” only to then watch as Italians were served food right in front of us with smiles. My family and I did not feel safe in this area since it seemed like it was occupied by some religious cult. The only other place to get food nearby requires a reservation and is only open on very limited hours. My advice to you my American friends is to stay in downtown Bellagio and avoid this area altogether. I only hope that someday I can return the favor to...
Read moreIf you tried more croissants in Italy, then you know this place is really bad. We ordered the Nutella and pistachio croissant, and especially the Nutella croissant was just a joke. There was maybe 1 gram of Nutella on top and literally NOTHING inside. The croissant itself was also of really poor quality, in the supermarket I've had way better ones! After this disappointment, we had to pay, and we were shocked! 6 euros for orange juice?! Would be okay if you had a glass of orange juice, but we got a glass with ice with maybe 100ml orange juice. No, 100% NOT...
