TRUTH WINE FOOD & DRINK — Restaurant in Bellano

Finest food and drinks in a cozy old street at the lake. On June 15th 2024 I traveled by ferry from Domaso to Bellano to visit the town and its famous ravine. Near the port I discovered the Truth Bar. I had not planned to visit a bar, but on this dark and rainy day, the place with its beautiful illumination looked like a weary wanderer's dream. My attention was caught by a Negroni Speciale in the Menu. The waiter explained, this is a classical Negroni, just with the best ingredients. And it was the best Negroni I ever had, with such a well balanced bitterness and delicate gin texture, a league above a Negroni you would get in the typical beach bar around the lake! I also ordered a soup Soup Legumes, simple but so tasty! When I had finished the Negroni, I had to ask the barkeeper about the components and he generously showed me the secrets. Spectacular service and amazing food! We are staying in Varenna and visited Belano for half a day, and what a treat! This restaurant had such a lovely vibe and the service was friendly, helpful and made you feel so at home! We got a couple of wines which were incredibly cheap for their amazing taste. We also had the Special Piccolo Taglieri and the Bruschetta Verde to share. Both were spectacular, super high quality ingredients and really fresh food! The 2 nights we ate at Truth were the food highlights of our 3 week tour of Italy!! Highly recommend the local pizzoccheri dish and the eggplant parmigiana, both heavenly! Husband also tried the goulash soup on a particularly cold and rainy evening and raved about how yummy it was. Staff all very friendly and accomodating, great prices, and a cozy, relaxed space for meals.. Such a hidden gem. Must be at the top of your list for a homey and delicious dinner if you’re in...
