We walked in and pointed to a table by the water and asked the waitress if we could sit there - she shrugged her shoulders and said “yes” then walked us to the table
We asked for drinks - and they were served quickly and well - then the waitress said “food?” We said no thank you - she gave us the most disapproving look, said something in Italian (clearly abusive) tutted and walked away
An elderly lady came up and asked “food?” No thank you we replied - she shouted - yes shouted - “restaurant not bar, you have food” we took another look at the menu - nothing really appealed - but when the first (younger) waitress approached our table again - my wife asked for a desert …. More to keep the peace than anything…. The waitress said “no - you must have food” and stormed off
The elderly lady reappeared and agin said “no bar, restaurant you eat food” we declined and she snatched the knives, forks etc and cleared the table while we were sitting there
I asked her for the check - it was clear they didn’t want us there - and by now, my wife wanted to be just about anywhere else …. No reply just walked away
After 10 minutes it became clear they were not going to bring us the check so we walked across the road to pay the bill
As we entered the restaurant, the first waitress was coming out - she took the opportunity to say something in Italian and then said “food, no bar”. My wife told her she was rude - the waitress laughed and walked away
We paid and left !
Prior to showing us to a table - it might have been a good idea to determine if we wanted foot or not
When we ordered drinks - they could have asked “are you going to order food?” We would have said “no” and they could have quietly explained that they only serve drinks with food orders
In my humble opinion - the best way to handle the misunderstanding was not to scream at customers and embarrass them in front of a half full restaurant
Extremely rude - arrogant - a place it would be good to avoid …..unless you are going to do what they tell you to do
It kinda goes without saying - but to be clear - we will never go...
Read morePoor food. Terrible service (even by laid back Italian standards).
Two mains and two main courses were almost devoid of flavour. The waiting staff seemed to be permanently ignoring us, almost gazing right past us and forgetting we were there between every course. Bread didn't arrive until the end of the first course. They cleared our cutlery between courses and forgot to bring us replacements. One of our dishes initially came out with only half of the ingredients on the plate. To top it off, when they finally collected our plates at the end of the meal, they offered us coffee... which we're still waiting for as it never arrived. It seems that the waiter took the order then swiftly finished his shift and left for the night.
The entire waiting staff seemed incapable to communicate. All the tables around us also had to constantly remind the staff about missing items.
Despite having dined outside, at the end of the meal the remaining waiter was too lazy to bring the bill to our table and insisted we went inside to pay. They're lucky we just didn't just leave without paying.
See the other recent reviews which confirm the low standards of both the food and the service. I wish we'd checked these beforehand. Despite the nice views, you're likely to leave feeling less...
Read moreMy husband and I chose this place after being recommended by our host to try the place next door, but we went by reviews and pictures and chose this place instead. Suffice it to say that we were NOT disappointed! We’ve been in Italy for a week and this has been one of our most favorite meals and experiences. The prices are exactly what they should be, this perfect margherita pizza is scrumptious and only €5, as opposed to €11 in Venice. The hubs loved his pizza diavola, and we ordered two bottles of Lumbrusco red wine after requesting a sweet red. Tagliatelle bolognese was the least impressive item, I ordered a pizza to bring home because it was perfect. The service was exceptional; very friendly and personable staff. We were even given complimentary limoncello after our meal to celebrate our honeymoon. We are only in the city for three days but have every intention of stopping by again. You can’t miss this place! Family owned, absolutely superb food and service. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Grazie mille per un’esperienza saremo...
