Osteria La Malga — Restaurant in Bergamo

I came here on spec to join a local friend for lunch - he didn’t know the place, but the location was near his work and we thought we’d give it a try. From outside it looks closed, but when I peeped through the door to lots of happy diners, many in work clothes, I knew it was a good choice. The set lunch menu, at €13 for starters, meat and veg plus wine, water and coffee, is terrific value, and everything we had was freshly prepared. Pasta steamed with seafood sauce was particularly good, as were the tasty and tender pork steaks. Service was efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere is cosy....

Looks are deceiving! From the outside we didn’t think this is a restaurant you want to go into!! You will be surprised as the food, decor and atmosphere is worth going in. We had a sharing platter for 2 (which 4 of us could have had) followed by a pasta each, shared a tiramisu and with a bottle of wine it came to €90. Portions are big but I think this is normal compared to what we are used too. I would definitely recommend...

Mi sono fermato per l’ora di pranzo con degli amici a mangiare nell’Osteria in questione, quando durante la consumazione dei primi piatti, due dei miei amici hanno trovato dei residui di paglietta d’acciaio in mezzo al loro cibo. La cosa è stata davvero spiacevole ed imbarazzante, in quanto se ne sono accorti verso la fine della loro consumazione. Disgustati dalla cosa, abbiamo smesso di mangiare e abbiamo prontamente mostrato il problema alla prima cameriera disponibile, che dopo aver portato in cucina i residui trovati nei due piatti è tornata riferendoci le scuse da parte dello chef. Ma la cosa che ci ha rovinato totalmente l’esperienza, è stata al momento del pagamento, dove dopo aver dichiarato lo spiacevole accaduto al titolare, ci è stato fatto pagare il conto totale senza alcuno sconto o segno di riconoscimento dell’errore che avevano commesso. Inutile dire che ci siamo sentiti totalmente presi in giro. Questo comportamento è intollerabile e vergognoso. Nessun cliente dovrebbe essere trattato così. Sconsiglio...
