Having grown up in the neighbourhood I have been coming here since I was 5 or 6 years old, that was more than 25 years ago. The pizza has always been of excelent quality, even if the prices were not exactly on the cheap side, however the night we went it was a catastrophic disaster. It was on a Saturday night, with a couple of friends, around 9pm, and the place was absolutely packed, nonetheless we made pur way to the till to ask how long a wait it would be for a table; we were told it would have been 15 minutes, by an old man, whom I think is the owner of the place. After 20 minutes, the old gentleman had moved from the tills and started doing things around the restaurnat, in his place there was a younger girl, whom we approached, and within 5 minutes found us a table. By this point we were ravenous, but after looking at the prices on the menu we decided we could only afford pizza. So we ordered 3 pizzas: capricciosa, wurstel, and primavera (? I can't remember the name); and one bottle of water. I'm sorry I didn't keep the reciept, the grandtotal was about €33, pretty pricey for what we actually ate. The pizzas were small, smaller than the plates (the plates were not pizza plates), they had very little condiments on, the cheese was tasteless and you could only raste the dough, the tomato was too acidic. An abysmal experience, it didn't even cross our minds to complain, because all 3 pizzas were bad, and we wouldn't have wanted to get another one. Other things that bothered us, were the fact that when we went to use the toilets, they had run out of paper towels, and I don't care if on some of the reviews that complained about this, the owners said that they could have been informed, thry should have regulars checks. Another thing that didn't go doen well, was the salad bar, it looked amazing, so we enquired about it, and we were told that we were free to help ourselves, to as much or as little as we wanted, and that the prices for each plate would vary between 4 to 12 euros, the waiters would have decided how much food we had got.
Despite this awful experience I will go back, as it is a favourite of my family and friends, and because prior to this visit I was never disappointed in the food and service provided; also I'm hoping for a...
Read moreI wandered to this part of the city to see some local churches and arrived to this restaurant right at noon and the restaurant was empty. I was the first guest but immediately afterwards it got almost full (and it is really a big one). There was a brunch going on but I picked from the menu - the seafood salad based mainly on the baccala (codfish) was so good! Then I had a pizza. I am not a pizza-type-of-a-tourist but I was in a mood for it just for once in my week holiday and it was just good Capricciosa. But as I was watching the meals arriving to the tables of the other guests I regreted not having a fresh fish - it looked really delicious! The prices here are more reasonable than in the city centre. No tourists here, only locals. I will come back next time...
Read moreHad dinner at Vesuvio in Bergamo with my family and overall, it was a good experience. The service was friendly and the staff were polite and made sure we had what we needed without being overbearing.
The food was solid and the portions were decent. Nothing mind blowing but definitely enjoyable. The pizza and pasta were both fresh and flavorful if you like sea food you’re gonna love the selections of the pastas and other dishes.
As for the atmosphere it was okay a bit basic and could use a bit more warmth or character.
Definitely a reliable spot if you’re in the area since it doesn’t have much choices so if you’re craving Italian food this is the spot, the quality of the food was excellent I’d go back if i ever visit...
