“Hidden courtyard vibes, perfect for a chill squad night!”

Stumbled into Borgo Mameli and honestly? Feels like I unlocked a local Bologna secret. It’s not just one bar, it’s a whole courtyard full of little bars and food joints, with loads of outdoor seating where you and your squad can park yourselves for the evening and vibe hard.

Didn’t try the food personally, but saw people going in on grilled meat, pasta con vongole, pizzas, and cocktails were flowing like a river and cheap too. You’ll be sipping spritz like a Roman emperor by drink #2.

Vibes? 10/10. Prices? Easy on the wallet. Friends chilling under the fairy lights? Big yes.

Only danger? Mosquitoes. These guys are hungry. BUT — the staff got you. Just ask and they’ll bring mosquito spray like it’s bug-fighting Avengers. Shoutout to Jasmine, the lovely host who made us feel right at home, friendly, helpful, and just genuinely nice.

It’s a bit out of the city centre, and the entrance is lowkey hidden (no big sign outside) but once you’re in, you’ll be like “yo, this is the spot.” Uploading some videos to help you find it because I’m not gatekeeping good vibes.

Highly recommend for an easygoing Italian night out. Come for the chill, stay for the squad energy.

We walked by a night earlier and saw it was packed , we tried to get a reservation but we couldn't , so we got added to the wait-list. We came by and asked if they were able to take us in and they did without hesitation. From start to finish a great experience. The drinks (G&T Bolognese Americano Spritz and Capri Spritz ), appetizer , pastas and BBQ choices were all hits ! The fiore di zucca fried to crispy perfection , tagliatelle al ragù cooked perfectly and the tortellini con panna was fantastic! Then we had the Kansas / Bologna solo andata . (ribs) were flavorful and cooked to perfection. Then the special of the night was brisket. So tender and flavorful.The dessert was awesome as well . La mia esperienza a Borgo Mameli è stata davvero poco gradevole. Io e degli amici prenotiamo per l'aperitivo. Arriviamo, ci dicono che nel menù si possono ordinare solo pizze e antipasti. Okay, ottimo! Essendo vegana, nessuna pizzeria mi ha mai fatto storie sul togliere un ingrediente dalla pizza, né le pizzerie gourmet, né le peggiori della periferia, inoltre ovunque trovo almeno la marinara come opzione. Alla mia semplice richiesta di ordinare una pizza vegana, la persona che prende il nostro ordine va nel panico. Stiamo lì dieci minuti a capire quale posso prendere, e alla fine ci dice che si può togliere il formaggio da una pizza composta semplicemente da pomodorini. Perfetto: 30 minuti dopo arriva l'ordine, e la mia pizza viene portata con il formaggio perché, salta fuori dopo, non si poteva fare nessuna modifica di alcun tipo alle pizze. Inutile dire che è stato imbarazzante e umiliante; mi è stato proposto di prendere un insalata senza burrata a 10€ ma era tutto un "un attimo, non possiamo togliere nemmeno quella...", o di prendere il fritto misto, "però anche lì c'è mozzarella". Non volevo mettere ulteriore pressione al cameriere e gli ho detto gentilmente che non avrei mangiato nulla, ma è rimasto lì per altri 5 minuti a farmi proposte che tanto in cucina non si sarebbero potute attuare. Ciliegina sulla torta: al pagamento riferisco tutto in cassa, senza incolpare nessuno nello specifico ma auspicando una migliore comunicazione tra sala e cucina e una maggiore inclusività per la prossima volta. Il cassiere mi ride praticamente in faccia, prima mi chiede "ma vegana in che senso?" e poi dice di essere "molto attento alla causa", sottolineando che il problema non fosse dato dalla poca chiarezza del servizio, ma dal fatto che avessimo prenotato al bar e non a cena con il menù completo, "dove ci sono molti piatti vegani". Ovviamente abbiamo pagato a prezzo pieno. Concludendo, ho l'impressione che se avessi detto di avere un'allergia al lattosio sarebbe filato tutto liscio. Peccato perché puntavo molto su questo locale, e lavorando nell'ambito della ristorazione mi permetto di dire che è ancora lontano dal farla in modo...
