We found this place by Google. And we were surpriced by the good foodpictures. Not knowing exactly were the restaurant was, we decided to take the taxi. After arriving at the place, we saw that there wasnt anyone inside. It was too early; 18.30pm So we decided to have a walk around in the neighbourhood. There is a big church across the street and there the mis just started. After walking around the place our apetite really got bigger. So it was time to have dinner. There was a young man from Milaan, who was really very kind and explained everything very well. And you could tell he really liked his job as a waiter. We decided to go for the Bolognina: a sort of Mortadella, straciatella cheecesticks topped with pistacio. An excellent little snacks along with some good wine, such as: Verso Sud. A great Italian red wine. After the snack we really got started with the almost famous Bombette. Fresh pork meat rolls, crispy from the outside and juicy from the inside. Excellent portion and really tasty! Next to this dish we also ordered the Mixed Grill. We really enjoyed this fresh meat platter along with fresh potatoes slides and Grilled vegatables. What a joy the have dinner here. By now the time was about 20.30pm. And the restaurant really started to get busy. So after ordering another bottle of their great wines: Jadicco a rosso reserva. We decided to endulce in the desserts. First we tried the Mascarpone with pure chocolate flackes and the other famous dessert: the Pasticcioto Leccese. We tried all 4 variaties; nusette, pistaccio, vanilla and chipolatte. What a lovely little warm dessert and the crusty cookie surounding were the best! This restaurant is really an excellent place to be, its good service, food and drinks. And the prices are even better! Keep up the good work and we will...
Read moreWe ended up here on a whim after discovering that another spot Google said was open was actually closed—and we were too hungry to keep searching. This place was nearby, so we decided to give it a try.
It’s a small restaurant, and it seemed like just one waiter was handling everything—taking orders and serving food—which made the service a bit slow, but he was doing his best. We were pleasantly surprised to be given a basket of taralli to start, which was a nice touch. I think I ate nearly the whole thing before our food arrived!
As is common in the area, there was no complimentary tap water—you need to buy bottled water.
We ordered a grilled veggie flatbread and two starters: one vegetarian with cheese (the cheese was delicious!) and another that ended up having the same grilled veggies as the flatbread—so in hindsight, we would have chosen more variety. We also got the meatballs, though we weren’t entirely sure what we were ordering due to some translation inconsistencies. They were just okay—not something we’d order again, but not bad either.
Overall, the meal satisfied our hunger, but we felt like we didn’t order the best combination. Still, it was a decent spot for a spontaneous meal when you're in...
Read moreFirst time in Bologna. Got in town mid afternoon and looking for a place for lunch as we travelled all day. Found Ottovie due to convenience of location to our lodgings. Really glad we stopped in! The food was delicious, BBQ meats especially the Bombette Pancetta, Pistachio, and Il Carnivore. They serve an assortment of Italian style hamburgers whose meat is delicious. Wait staff was awesome and catered to our party of eight. Thank you for the fantastic late...
