U' Palacca Restaurant — Restaurant in Câdesédda/Calasetta

Holidaying in south west Sardinia from the U.K. in mid June 2022, we visited this restaurant for both lunch and dinner on separate days.

It is located in the heart of Calasetta, right off the main square.

We were warmly greeted by Maurizio, the owner.

There is seating both indoors and outdoors.

The venue is clean, bright and very well decorated.

For lunch, we opted to sit indoors, as it was nice and cool.

For antipasti, we had started with oysters plus octopus salad.

For our first course, we had pasta with clams.

For dessert we shared some ice cream with nuts.

The meal food was wonderful and Eleanora kindly waited on us throughout.

Maurizio gave us some complimentary cookies, which had been freshly baked earlier.

On the strength of our first visit, we booked dinner for the following night.

We were once again warmly welcomed and sat outside on this occasion.

We were given one of the best outside tables in the restaurant, which had plenty of ventilation and looked right out to the port.

The atmosphere of beautifully coloured lighting and light music was awesome.

For dinner for starters we had red mullet, salad and some local bread - plus fresh prawns and oysters.

For our first course we had ravioli and pasta amatriciana respectively.

For our second course we deep fried mix of seafood and a grilled tuna steak with chips.

For dessert we had a lovely freshly baked cheesecake and limoncello.

We were also kindly served at our tables by Daniel throughout our Dinner.

Based on our two visits, on different times of days, I strongly recommend you visit this restaurant for either lunch or dinner or both.

It is clean, welcoming, great atmosphere, friendly service, excellent food and beautifully decorated right through to the bathrooms.

I suggest you try dish from each of the antipasti, prima, secondi and desert in order to fully appreciate the experience.

Place looks nice and food-quality overall was ok. Wat was disappointing was the fact that it took them nearly 20 min more to bring one of the main courses of our table. And what disappointed most was not the fact that they had clearly forgotten one dish - mistakes happen - but the complete lack of responsibility and ownership of the problem. Then the cherry on the cake was the fact that they work without any menus at the table and you end up spending about 20% more then anywhere else for no reason. Too bad as the place looks nice but there are far nicer and friendlier places to eat...

DA EVITARE Rivedo la mia famosa recensione, fatta in piena delusione. U' Palacca è stato probabilmente un buon ristorante, lo testimoniano le recensioni positive del passato. Il problema è che bisogna valutare ciò che il posto offre ora, e purtroppo i fatti parlano. Questo ristorante è la classica trappola per turisti, che si presenta bene all'esterno ma nasconde una fregatura. Abbiamo avuto l'intuizione di prenotare, nonostante fosse un lunedì tranquillo, infatti ci siamo seduti subito, a differenza di tutti i clienti arrivati dopo di noi. Questi sono rimasti in piedi mezz'ora all'ingresso, totalmente ignorati dai camerieri, e ci hanno allietato la serata con continui sbuffi e bestemmie. I tavoli sono troppo vicini, in barba a qualunque norma anti Covid, e tra l'altro nessun cameriere indossa la mascherina. Appena seduti, un ragazzo ci ha portato i piatti di un altro tavolo, prima ancora di chiederci cosa volessimo bere o di portarci un menù. Una volta risolto il malinteso sono state portate due acque con il pane, tuttavia da lì in poi siamo stati completamente ignorati dal personale. Sto ancora aspettando il menù, magari mi arriva per posta quando torno dalle vacanze. Dopo mezz'ora di attesa senza nessun cenno di attenzione o scuse da parte del personale, ci siamo alzati e ce ne siamo andati. Ho trovato davvero poca serietà e professionalità, e non ho nemmeno avuto modo di assaggiare il menù (ah già non mi è arrivato).
