What a memorable experience I had in this restaurant! I walked in without a reservation on a very busy sunny day (it was a bank holiday in nearby Recco and the tiny beach of San Fruttuoso was crammed) and was lucky to secure a table for two in the outside terrace, front row facing the sea. Food, wine and service were all great: we tried the muscles alla marinara, the caprese and two different fish of the day alla ligure. My partner even asked for extra pesto for her caprese, which came in a generous portion free of charge. Beautiful spot to kick back and enjoy the view of the cove. Solid food...anchoives were prepared just right and not too big. Service was poor at best. We took it upon ourselves to grab a table by the window and cleared the table ourselves after receiving approval we could sit there. The bus boy seemed very surprised and soon realized that potential customers were showing him how to do his job. There was one other occupied table in the entire room. Ownership, please whip your staff into shape so you can maximize your revenue or simply get new help. I just wanted Cappuccino to go and went from the beach up to the bar. The waiter outside told me I should order inside. So I did and I got laughed at. I got to know - in a very unfriendly tone - in Italian - which I didn’t quite understand - I won’t get anything because I have no T-shirt on and her face let everybody know that I am an uncivilised idiot. Thank you dear waiter for letting me get in such an embarrassing situation and thank you dear Italian lady that you sorted it all out without letting everybody in the bar know.
