I struggled with this one. LITERALLY (and I know how to use that word) inaccessible by road, I didn’t expect haute cuisine - and it met my expectations, but also twisted my nipples in a good way. It’s a hike to get there, and when you do, the menu is more dogeared than my 17-yr old schnauzer*, but whatever you order from it has literally (again) been caught fifteen minutes prior. Basically - just go for the grilled fish, enjoy the fact that you’re eating in a grotto, and enjoy the view of 500 people hunting for 15 spots on a tiny beach beside a beautiful abbey. The ferry goes from Portofino or Santa Margarita every hour, and returns on the half hour (when we went in summer 2025)

The pasta was just okay and the portion was on the smaller side. The seafood pasta was the biggest let-down — lots of bits and shells, and the largest shrimp was completely empty. Prices feel high for what you get, though to be fair, there aren’t many other places to eat in the area. And they brought bread to the table, which was later added to the bill, even though we didn’t order it.

Lovely quaint Mediterranean seaside restaurant featuring wonderful seafood in a very small, gorgeous Bay, just north of Portofino on the Riviera. Our guide, the skipper of our yacht that was rented, called ahead and made reservations for us. In a table was available when we arrived. La Cantina only has a handful of tables, making reservations ahead of time is highly recommended.

Very nice food with a view in a hidden cove away from the main beach. The food is simple but good and the service is nice. A bit pricey. The prices for the beach beds and the umbrellas were outrageous, I can understand the exclusivity of the place but we spent there the whole day and no one took a bed/umbrella for the exorbitant price of 80euros for the day (they did not even give the option to do half day/ by the hour) so everyone was on the free beach (including us) while their nice area was completely empty for the day. Not a very smart way of doing business (I can understand there are tourist willing to pay a ransom price for the location in high season, but it would be smart to lower the price when there are no reservations/beds or...
