Da Delfina — Restaurant in Carmignano

Well, I can’t speak to the food because we didn’t get a chance to dine there. My wife and I were traveling with our two kids (eight and four) and grandparents, and we were staying at the nearby Tenuta di Artimino. It was one of the rare nights we didn’t make a reservation as we thought it’s a boutique hotel and a small town so we would walk in for early dinner.

Anyway, we found out that the restaurant was opening at 730 so we waited outside the restaurant from 715 (kids were hungry). I was surprised to be turned away. It would have been fine if the restaurant does not accept walk-in and tell us nicely, but it was the manner that the man at reception waved me away. He was dismissive in saying “No reservation. No dinner”. I looked around and the restaurant was empty. I even asked once more and explained that we will be quick as diners but he seemed annoyed. We gladly took our business to another restaurant in town.

From more than 1200 feedbacks, this is my 19th with only one star although we did not even have dinner at La Delfina having left the place after 5 minutes. We made a proper and written reservation and got a confirmation same day. After turning up a few hours later, they put us at a table directly at the entrance, dislocated from the main terrace. Under trees, full of mosquitos, wobbling chairs, excluded. Many tables on the main terrace did not have reservation cards, and the ones reserved did. Our table did not have any. It was a strange experience. When we asked for another table, we were offered one at the other end of the terrace "but we think your table here is better". Which was the moment we left. Lo dico subito: in questo ristorante si mangia bene, purtroppo però questo non basta a farne un buon ristorante. Soprattutto non basta a farne un ristorante di livello, come pretenderebbe il proprietario. Ma andiamo con ordine. All'arrivo la struttura si presenta molto bene: un tipico casale con una bellissima vista sui colli circostanti e la villa medicea. Anche all'interno i locali sono ben curati e molto piacevoli. E qui comuncia il purtroppo però: il personale si presenta freddo e sussiegoso, i menù vengono distribuiti velocemente, ma subito ritirati " perché servono al piano di sotto" ( ma come? Non avete menù per tutti???), la richiesta di informazioni sui piatti viene soddisfatta frettolosamente e quasi con fastidio. Il nostro gruppo ( siamo in 13) conoscendo la propensione dei ristoranti della zona per le porzioni abbondanti, decide, suscitando grande stupore nel cameriere, di saltare l'antipasto e ordinare direttamente i primi, chiedendo di potere ordinare successivamente i secondi ( non saltare, ma ordinare dopo!), suscitando questa volta grande disappunto, tanto che dopo pochi minuti si presenta al tavolo il proprietario il quale ci apostrofa a voce alta di fronte agli altri ospiti, affermando che " questa non è una pizzeria e chi viene a mangiare qui ordina almeno tre portate a testa" e che lui ha " la fila fuori e non bisogno di gente che non mangia". ...Un vero signore! Comunque noi abbiamo abbozzato un sorriso e abbiamo mangiato i nostri primi, dopodiché abbiamo ordinato i secondi. A fine pasto abbiamo chiesto la lista dei dolci e ci è stata portata una sola lista ( noi eravamo in 13!!!). Alla richiesta di altre liste, ne sono state fornite altre 3 ( totale 4 liste dolci per 13 persone...). Tengo a precisare che l'atteggiamento del titolare verso i clienti abituali e "mangioni" era evidentemente diverso: cordiale e affabile, quasi ossequioso. Purtroppo però non ci si comporta così.
