Unfortunately, Le Gatte was a disappointment. The scenery is wonderful. The service was very poor. My husband and I were seated prior to a table of 4 nearby, and the table of 4 received drinks before we were even acknowledged, at which point we asked for menus. The table of 4 seemed to be getting all the attention while staff repeatedly walked by us, offering not even a glance. Once our meals finally arrived, we immediately noticed both plates had no flavor. It seemed as though the cook completely forgot to salt the pasta. Our meals were taken back and re-prepared. The second time, we both agreed the taste improved. My husband enjoyed his meal, thus 4 stars for food. I did not enjoy my meal, especially for the price. Our table was cleared, including the bread basket. We were never asked if we had interest in dessert or an after-dinner drink. While the location and restaurant is beautiful, I have no interest in returning. One waitress, not ours, showed care toward the end of our visit, inquiring about what had happened with our meals and apologizing. That was very professional of her and appreciated. The food was tasty but the portion sizes were very small for €20+ prices. A grilled octopus dish for €20 had 1 tentacle and its not enough. A calamari dish for €20 was small. The pasta dishes were a better size but expensive again. When seafood is available on the doorstep, it just felt like we were ripped off.

The service was good and the table staff were friendly. But we had to literally wave at the staff and turn around in our chairs if we needed something. There weren't enough staff. Or staff need to be allocated to tables. The staff were great. They were overworked and it's difficult in the heat.

Ma il vero punto dolente è il servizio, a dir poco imbarazzante. Prenotazione alle 21:45: arriviamo puntuali, ma nessuno ci degna nemmeno di uno sguardo. All’ingresso troviamo un membro del personale che non si prende neanche la briga di rispondere al nostro “buonasera” – dettaglio che dice molto. Dopo diversi minuti di attesa, e varie richieste di essere almeno accolti, ci viene risposto con sufficienza che “deve arrivare la ragazza”. Passano 15 minuti. Alla nostra legittima irritazione, riceviamo una risposta degna di una commedia grottesca: “E che sono 10 minuti di attesa?”. Come se il cliente dovesse anche sentirsi in colpa per avere delle aspettative minime. Una volta saliti al piano superiore, la ciliegina sulla torta: almeno nove tavoli vuoti, rimasti tali per tutta la durata della cena. Nessun pienone, nessuna emergenza: solo disorganizzazione e maleducazione mascherate da indifferenza. L’unico spiraglio di professionalità arriva dal cameriere che ci ha serviti al tavolo, che almeno ha mostrato una parvenza di educazione – ma è davvero il minimo sindacale.
