Unfortunately our experience here was very very bad. We where served food which did not meet the description, neither value for money.
Many things went wrong, read on if you are interested:
As a starter, we ordered toast with sea urchins and fresh mullet. They gave us sea urchin paste that tasted of preservatives and plain “mullet” on top - €5 a piece (twice the size of a match box)
As main, we ordered pasta with lobster. Instead, we where served pasta with krill. We raised our complaints to the manager on duty who in turn gave us the cold shoulder and told us that we do not know food.
One of us had to stop here as she felt sick over something (see point number 1 again) and went back to the hotel.
The wine we where ordering suddenly changed (after the second bottle) and without informing us, the manager got us more expensive wine. Thank fully we noticed immediately and changed it.
All in all we where 10 people, one allergic to sea food so he ate two plates of tomato pasta (as the portions where incredibly small) and another one had to leave early (see point 3).
The night ended up costing us 720 euros, for something which was not even worth half of it. Yep... 720 euros
Seriously do not...
Read moreHorrible experience. Rude owner and bad service make this well positioned restaurant a place to avoid. The menu is literally a single table that needs to be shared amongst the different tables. we waited 40 mins just to be allowed to see the menu. I attach a picture for reference. apart the overpriced items for the location, the waiters did not know what was inside any dish so they had to go inside to ask the owner. The general confusion in the organisation made us wait for over 2 hours just to get a starter and the pasta. Unfortunately, the wrong dish arrived at the table, not once but twice and bringing an item that was of the menu. Instead of apologising for the mistake, the owner started to argue with us and I had to show the waiter their own menu taken in picture with my phone. Result: an horrible afternoon that doesn't justify any overpriced (40 euros for a starter and a pasta) mediocre food served in a so called restaurant. Worse experience in...
Read moreI went to this remarkable little restaurant in the corner of a quaint harbour just 10 minutes walk from my Hotel Nettuno. I was advised a bottle of wine when I got there early at just before 8pm. The service, approach was homely, friendly and made me feel I was in the hands of pure grace! The wine was outstanding, my prawns were the best, done to perfection. I never once mentioned I was a chef, but was treated with class! I stayed on for desert a delightful almond ice cream, and a few coffees. Pondering on I could not leave and got another bottle of wine, promising to finish it on my return. I hope it's kept for a few years. This place is the best restaurant in Catania, by a mile! Thanks to all the staff and manager. I reluctantly left after 1am....
