Oasis Frutti di Mare da Nitto — Restaurant in Catania

Avoid this place at any cost, they will rip you of. I have been living of and on for years in Catania and have always gone here for fish & seafood because you got good food for a good price. Not any moore. And to remind you this is a street food style place where you eat on plastic plates with plastic cutlery. Ordered a scampi pasta today with some other things. They charged me 18 € just for the pasta plate. And there was only 1 shrimp in it in total that they had split in 2 . And im not talking a large size shrimp either. No seafood flavor in it at all because of the lack of shrimps in it. They have a big sign inside where the pasta prices range from 6-8 euro. But apparently that is if you order take away. So in a street food style place they charge you 10-12 euros extra for eating there on plastic plates sitting on plastic chairs. Im pretty sure they ripped us off. Have been in sicily for 2 months now and have had better pasta dishes in nice restaurants for 12-15 euros so avoid this place. Not at all as it used to be but super pricy instead. Go to a nice seafood restaurant instead. You will pay the same price or even cheaper. Never...

27€ for a lunch is a bit over the top. I had a plate of mixed crudo (raw fish) and a small portion of swordfish sausage and seaweed. They weigh the food after you have gone to your table so there is no way to control or prevent them from pushing down on the scale. While the quality was alright to good, the price tag is exaggerated. I live in Catania and know where to get superior seafood for much less. You definitely aren't paying for ambience here, either (plastic cutlery and plates). Chalking that up to a bad experience and not returning any time soon. Being somewhat of an "influencer", I'd say my proactive non-recommendation of this place is punishment enough for their dishonest behavior and bad manners (when I pointed out my concerns, they performed the usual clown act of a person who knows they are cheaters - you know the silly Sicilian look of feigned indignity if you live here). So beware and do your homework to find places that are more honest...

This is my first ever review. I usually let things go but not this time. We ordered a mixed fried fish dish with prawns. We sat at the table and they brought us our plates with a few minutes. No prawns, squid, octopus was rubbery and the anchovies were dry. The food was not cooked on order as it was warm to cold.
