Fabulous restaurant on the canal in Chioggia! We chose to leave our Viking ship for a local dinner and we are so thrilled that we did! We were greeted by the owners, husband and wife, and seated outside at a wonderful table with water views and a fabulous breeze. We allowed the owner to select our wine, an incredible local red. The menu was extensive, mainly seafood out of the water that morning! The queen scallops were incredible! However the CRISPY OCTOPUS…..out of this world! I chose the fish ravioli and my husband had the special catch of the day, a whole flat fish beautifully grilled, simply seasoned. We finished with a delicious pistachio tiramisu and a spectacular millefileuille (which is not easy to find a spectacular millefileuille). My hats off to these two owners! I ate here with five friends at the end of a beach day in Sottomarina. We shared a frito misto and a bowl of mussels in spicy tomato-based sauce as starters. Most of us had the seaman’s pasta dish as our main (one of our party opted for the scallops, which she loved). We had one just about every dessert on the menu—molten chocolate cake, cheesecake, millefoglie, tiramisu. The food was exquisite and fairly priced. The service was attentive and efficient. And the location is beautiful, peaceful, and charming—right on the water. Last time I was in Chioggia I ate at Bacaro Baia, which was very overpriced and disappointing in every way. This meal at Do Ombre was one of my best of 24 months’ worth of meals here in Italy, across many cities and towns. We were all so happy. ...

Ci siamo stati per la prima volta sabato sera per cena, con l'accortezza di prenotare prima il tavolo per 2, per essere sicuri di trovare posto. I coperti non sono molti: questo permette di seguire bene tutti i clienti e di poter preparare i piatti al momento, cosa molto apprezzata. La maggior parte dei posti a sedere è all'aperto, sulla riva di Canal Lombardo: si possono ammirare degli splendidi tramonti senza rimanere invischiati nella confusione presente in altre zone di Chioggia. La musica di sottofondo che proviene dall'interno del locale non è invadente e permette di conversare tranquillamente senza doversi sgolare e senza andare via col mal di testa: ottima scelta! Abbiamo mangiato benissimo: pesce fresco, ottima cucina, presentazione dei piatti elegante, ma non eccessiva, quantità adeguate e sapori sapientemente esaltati, non nascosti da altri inappropriati. E finalmente una frittura mista fatta come si deve: croccante fuori, morbida dentro, digeribilissima, non unta, con una buona varietà di gusti e ben curata! Per cena suggerisco di presentarsi non troppo tardi, altrimenti potreste avere meno scelta di pietanze: hanno tutto fresco e di stagione (il menù può quindi variare nel tempo). Personale cortese, molto attento, sempre presente, discreto e simpatico, con la giusta dose di convivialità e savoir-faire che mette di buon umore.
