El Gato — Restaurant in Chioggia

The worst restaurent experience I've had! We were tourists with a toddler, and right away got the worst treatment. The waiters were running around and almost stepped on my kid twice, so we had to take her for walks until our food arrived. We waited 45 min for the food, and never got an apology or heads up for the delay. The food was mediocre, i honestly had better seafood at fish and chips spots in New Zealand and Oz, and there at least you get dip on the side. The waiters were really the shocking factor. If I needed anything, I'd have to chase them down and they would either ignore me or turn their back and say something behind my back in Italian (which I don't speak). I couldn't believe that this restaurant is in the Michelin Guide. No basic manners were applied by the waiting staff, no checking if we like the food, or need anything. I was fuming and felt so disrespected, I asked for a reduction in the bill, I told the manager everything I felt, and he just walked away angrily, he later came back and let us leave without paying the bill, though that wasn't even my intent. When I confronted the waiters, they didn't apologise and only said "so what, we work!". Was a beautiful fishing town, and we would have had a wonderful day there if we hadn't had our lunch at...

Per il sottoscritto e il migliore dei ristorante di Chioggia ad alti livelli nazionali come qualità del pesce in freschezza e preparazioni , con antipasti favolosi dai crudi ai cotti con pesci e molluschi o crostacei della laguna o del mare di Chioggia nonché da primi con fantasia come gli spaghetti ai fasolari i secondi che vanno dalla spigola al sale al rombo con patate o varietà del pescato dal proporvi la cottura o la preparazione secondo esigenze di palato ,ogni qual volta che vengo rimango sempre contento e soddisfatto non solo ma anche dai dessert. Mi vengono sempre proposte ricette nuove sapendo che sono un buongustaio che giro l'Italia e andando a mangiare pesce , e affidandomi ai consigli o suggerimenti di Tiziano, consiglio la spigola al sale. Il personale si vede che ce la scuola di cucina molto educati e attenti verso i clienti in piccoli particolari ,e molto gentili verso i bambini più piccoli. Ottima cantina dei vini delle migliori marche nazionali di grande qualità eccellenti , prezzo giusto onesto per chi conosce e ama il pesce fresco di giornata. Che dire di Tiziano il titolare sempre attento ai clienti e cercando di proporre i pesci particolari secondo esigenze e gusti dei palati dei clienti mentre la moglie Karen in cucina bravissima e infaticabile che io uso chiamare cuoca eccezzionale invece di chef, fanno del ristorante El Gato ambiente elegante e bello nel centro di Chioggia per chi ama la buona cucina di mare , spero vi arrivi qualche bel riconoscimento nazionale o stella per i piatti e la cucina che proponete nonché per la serietà ormai da tanti anni che portate avanti verso i clienti. Sempre consigliatissimo per gli amanti della buona cucina a base di pesce freschissimo non si sbaglia mai venire a mangiare nel miglior locale...

Unfortunately, a visit in El Gato (16th Feb) turned out to be a total disaster. We ordered 2 times spaghetti vongole, penne and turbot. Spaghetti made of salt (literally!!) despite the fact that we were starving, we had a huge problems to finish that meal. Penne also extremly salty and turbot without any taste. If someone in the kitchen would try a pasta before serving it to the guests, I am quite sure that this situation would not occur. 2/5 for nice interior and friendly staff. If only food...
