We had an unforgettable lunch at Villa Giade in Chiavenna. The food was simply amazing – flavors combined in a unique way, opening the door to new taste possibilities that harmonized beautifully and created different layers of flavor with every bite. We were a party of four and tried 10 different dishes – including risotto, fish, lamb, and more – which gave us a great overview of the restaurant’s impressive culinary qualities. The home-made bread was another delightful touch, a detail that most restaurants today no longer offer. The attention to detail was remarkable, and the beautifully decorated dishes made the meal a feast not only for the palate but also for the eyes. The wine suggestions, including some excellent local options, were spot-on for those looking to explore and expand their wine knowledge. I am not a restaurant grader, just someone who enjoys exploring new opportunities and is open to the new when it is combined with tradition. The owner is very attentive and charming and there is a lovely restaurant also used for a delicious breakfast with home made products - you look out to a garden and the rock with the castle on and surrounding mountains. The Villa is very close to the station with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants a short walk - and Chiavenna is a slow paced but delightful town to use as a touring base - good both for the Engadin and Lake Como.
