Chateau Branlant — Restaurant in Courmayeur

Don't eat here if you'd like to ski the same day. We made a reservation for lunch to ensure we wouldn't miss time on the slopes. They did have a table available for us as planned, but the service was inexplicably awful. We tried and tried to flag the waiter down to order, and were ignored. It took over an hour to get an order in, another hour and multiple reminders before any drinks came out, and longer for the food. We had to send someone down to the kitchen to inquire about the food. I've never come closer to walking out of a restaurant without paying. Forget being able to ski any more that afternoon; we were anxious about missing our bus home! We watched other groups arrive after us, sit down, be served, have drink refills, get dessert, and leave while we still hadn't received the water, beer, or wine we'd ordered. The waiter tried to remove some items from the bill afterward, but a manager stopped him and refused. Waste of time and an expensive ski ticket.

I honestly have no idea why we received such inexplicably bad service. We were polite, the same size as other groups, we were not the only non-Italian speaking group, we had a reservation... all I know is I'd never return to this restaurant, and I will absolutely walk out if I find myself in such a situation again.

This place was hands down the best mountain food I've had. Authentic Italian pasta dishes, reasonable prices (we paid €50 for two people, wine, lunch, dessert) and fantastic atmosphere. I would recommend booking as it gets pretty hectic...
