Went on first day here in villasimius, at 8pm there was a long line almost out the door and the guy at front desk said they were fully booked that day so needed to come back the next at 7pm (not 7:05) otherwise we would not get a table! Ok so next day we come, 6:55 to make sure we got a table, massive queue going down the street and managed to get a table.
Well this meal made me understand why they have no tables available, the service is terrible. Waited 20 minutes to get water and be served, another 20 for our starter, which was mozzarella balls on top of tomato slices with bresola… not much to write home about.
First mains pasta was great and the highlight of the night, ate it within two minutes because we had been waiting for ages for it and the little mozzarella balls only wet our appetite. We got the vongole and a local pasta dish with sausage.
Then we waited… and waited… hoping against hope that our grilled meats would come… in the end we asked for our food to be taken away because I was falling asleep at the table waiting for it. I get why they are always full, you enter at opening and practically leave at closing. They really need to work on their service in order to be sustainable, having such a low turnover means they aren’t taking in as much money in the summer months. Another group could have been seen in the time it took for our meal. Overall recommend but try booking ahead or going when opening to get a table straight away. Definitely...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended and great reviews… but maybe it was just us, but we had just a horrible experience. Firstly, unable to book online or make a reservation, then when we attended we were told to come back in 30 minutes, we came back 30 minutes later to be met by a different server who told us they were full and it would be another 30 minutes (yet were letting others in) finally the initial guy who told us to come back saw us and brought us straight in (absolute legend) we then ordered a couple of starters and mains. Starts came out and they were quite decent, then it took about 40 minutes for mains to come out, the person I was dining with received their mains, I waited for over 15 minutes to get the attention of the busy staff, to find out they forgot to order my main, at this point I told them not to worry as it was getting late, it was great that I wasn’t charged, there was no offer of an apology or even a free drink, maybe offer a free starter. Very disappointing.. I can accept that people make mistakes, especially for a busy restaurant, but the servers need to have more responsibility and be more attentive. This place isn’t a cheap restaurant, I would have expected a bit...
Read moreSa Tankitta serves the best seafood in town. We dined for lunch as we were unable to get a dinner booking due to popularity! Advance booking recommended. We skipped antipasti to allow our stomachs enough space for primo, secondo and dolce, however, we spied dishes being delivered to other tables and they looked delicious. We both had a pasta dish, frutti di mare, which is tomato based, was amazing, the sauce was flavoursome, with fresh and varied seafood, the prawns were particularly tasty and delicate. Spaghetti alle vongole, was good too. Fritto misto was tasty, and big portion. However the star of the meal was the whole seabass. It was cooked to perfection, soft flaky fresh fish, cooked whole with a salted crust which was outstanding! I will be dreaming of this until I go again in the future... if we could ever get another booking. However, the tree in the garden is beautiful, but inside could do with redecorating, outdated wallpaper and the TV in the corner makes it feel cheap. We didnt try the wines but there was a good selection. The main reason for not giving 5 stars, was the service. Staff were fine, but not friendly, seemed we were a bit of an inconvenience to them and they...
