Cafè Le Mokò — Restaurant in Fiumicino

Chic bar located about ten minutes by taxi from Fiumicino airport. A massive old locomotive stands next to it, so it's hard to miss it. The cafe is lovely decorated and has a small terrace. A portrait of the famous Italian comedian Totò welcomes the clients at the entrance. His iconic face is actually the cafe's logo. Cool vibes, friendly staff, fancy music. I ordered some snacks and a Negroni. The Negroni was fantastic, so I needed to order another one. They prepare it with Carpano Rosso vermouth, which seems to be a perfect match for gin. A great selection of rums is available, and they really do serve the rum in style. I tasted a shot of Santa Teresa (the Venezuelan classic) next to a few slices of candied red Sicilian oranges and bitter chocolate, a delicious treat. Briefly, this cafe is highly recommended if you have a 3-4 hours stopover at Fiumicino airport (too short to go to Rome, too long to stay confined...

Solitamente non scrivo mai le recensioni negative, evito di andarci una seconda volta e la chiudo così... ma il fatto è stato così grave che purtroppo "merita" che il titolare controlli un pò in più l'elaborato dei dipendenti... Vado una prima volta (qualche mese fa) a fare aperitivo, 2 spritz e un tagliere x 2, mi accorgo immediatamente che sul tagliere tra pizzette e panini vari c'è un capello; smettiamo immediatamente di mangiare, finiamo i nostri spritz, paghiamo e andiamo via... Dato che errare è umano ci ritroviamo nuovamente a Fiumicino e torniamo in questo posto perché secondo me tutte le attività meritano una seconda occasione, per cui senza alcun pregiudizio entriamo, ci accomodiamo, questa volta c'era anche nostra figlia di 6 anni. Ordiniamo 2 spritz, tagliere x 2 e un succo. Arriva tutto, apparentemente tutto bene, mia figlia inizia a mangiare le patatine riposte in un contenitore di latta con carta per i fritti e dentro le patatine (cips). Mio marito fa "l'errore" (quando le patatine stavano finendo) di alzare la carta dal contenitore di latta e dentro c'erano delle cicche di sigarette... cioè dove stava mangiando le patatine mia figlia!!! Abbiamo avvisato la cameriera, le abbiamo fatto vedere la cosa e lei ha sbarrato gli occhi, giustificandosi che il giorno prima lei non era di turno. Davvero imbarazzante!!! Non oso immaginare come sia "pulita" la cucina... chiaramente, non ci sarà una terza visita... norme igienico-sanitarie assolutamente assenti!!! "Ovviamente" dal conto le patatine non sono...

Perfetto per aperitivo serale. Siamo andati in 3 e abbiamo preso tre drinks spritz e birra ed un tagliere di appetitosi spuntini. Qualità eccellente di tutto, cibo e drinks. Porzioni abbastanza generose. Servizio molto gentile da parte delle ragazze. Siamo stati proprio bene. Lo raccomando perché l’atmosfera è rilassata, il prezzo modico. Una nota negativa per il parcheggio in zona che è arduo. Nella strada dietro al lungo fiume non abbiamo avuto problemi ma durante il weekend bisogna parcheggiare lontano e andarci a piedi. Quando il tempo e la temperatura lo permette suggerisco i tavoli fuori sul marciapiede perché è molto ampio ed i tavoli sono tutti fatti in materiali caratteristici e particolari. La scelta dei drink è buona.

Perfect for an evening aperitif. There were 3 of us and we had three spritz drinks and beer and a platter of tasty snacks. Excellent quality for food and drinks. Portions quite generous. Very kind service from the girls. We had a really good time. I recommend it as atmosphere is relaxed, the price is average. A negative note for parking in the area quite difficult. In the street behind the long river we had no problems but during the weekend you have to park far away and walk there. When the weather and temperature permits I suggest the tables outside on the pavement because it is a spacious area and the tables are all made of characteristic and particular materials.
