Edit: Check their newest reviews, they have gotten so many 5 star review within a day, the reviews which have not much context or photos other than it’s great and highly recommend, most likely faked the high rating. ———- Beware of this restaurant if you are a tourist. The service was very lackluster, as my friend have pointed out in a previous review. As a person who didn’t speak Italian. We were welcomed in by someone (seemed to be the restaurant manager) who spoke some English, however they handed us to a waiter who didn’t speak English at all. First of all, the ordering process was interesting, the waiter brought us water, it felt like he either was drunk or didn’t care, as he spilt some while pouring into my partner’s cup… Then after I ordered one item he went to chat with resto manager that welcomed us in and came back to take the rest of the order. 😅. We ordered 3 items on the menu, one being a mixed fish grill, the waiter came later with a fried platter and a grilled fish, which I was sure wasn’t our order. Note - it’s very difficult to get this one mixed up as the two items (which we later found out what they were) were on two different pages, and the mixed fish grill I ordered was on an entirely different page 😂😂😂. Anyway I started explaining to him that he got our order wrong and pointed to the correct order, as he didn’t speak English, he took the menu and started pointing to the stuff he brought us on two other pages, it took some back and forth like this… then we finally went to their manager who now spoke only some English and didn’t understand what we said… another waitress lady came over that actually spoke some English and tried to understand us (I wonder why they didn’t get her to take our orders in the first place when there was only one other group in the restaurant…). Finally after some google translation, they finally understood, or perhaps stopped pretending that they didn’t understand what we said. We were in a hurry so we said we will just have the pasta (which was already on our table) and the pizza, as we thought it would take them more time to remake the mixed fish grill, they promised pizza would be finished in 2 minutes. They agreed, but much to our surprise the mixed fish grill landed on our table in 1 minute… (very confused at this point as it’s obvious they knew what we wanted? they could have just brought us that?) At this point we didn’t care anymore as we didn’t want to argue further due to time constraints, and just had the food. Let’s just say the food wasn’t bad, the fish was a bit dry. Also response to the owner: we paid 28 euros for the platter, we are not going to waste that money or food ok? Then we waited around 15min and the pizza still hasn’t arrived so we decided to pay and leave one of our friends there to bring pizza back while we go back to pack. As soon as we decided to pay the pizza arrived… it felt as though they just didn’t wanna let us go… I love Al dente pasta don’t get me wrong, but the pasta with clams was way too undercooked and the flavour was not there.
What an interesting experience 😂. From reading other reviews it seems like other people had a great time. So Tourists, I warned you but I’ll let you...
Read moreTourists beware - avoid! Had a terrible experience today. We ordered 3 things - a pasta, a pizza and a grilled fish mix. The waiter came up with 2 dishes instead of the seafood grill, a fried seafood mix and something else and kept insisting we ordered that. After lots of translation and finding the boss, We said we no longer wanted the grilled fish mix, and to just give us our pasta and pizza. I think the original waiter made a mistake and tried to make us suffer for it, which was not cool. The boss nodded but still gave us the grilled fish mix later and charged us for it. The pizza also took 50 minutes. After 30 minutes we asked for it to go and it took another 20 minutes.
P.s the grilled fish tasted terrible, pasta was ok and pizza was good. But not worth the stress of communicating with them. Tourists avoid!
I’m only leaving a 2 star instead of 1 because another different waiter told me I forgot my hat when I left.
edit to reply to the owner review:
Re the 2 'wrong dishes'. I'm not sure how you can excuse 1 dish becoming 2 dishes. There is noway that was a 'misunderstanding'. You simply relying on us not understanding Italian and kept speaking Italian to us even though we were using the translate app to communicate. It was not until a host that could speak a bit of english came over to resolve it. We simply pointed at the menu when ordering. Your explanation makes me think this was just a way to get us to pay for more stuff. I want to emphasise that the original waiter kept trying to get us to keep the dishes before we involved more people. Finally, you said the dish was 'already ready when we didn't want it. How? You made 3 dishes at the same time? When we supposedly ordered 2 when we actually only ordered 1. Mate get your story straight. You're not making any sense.
You imply that if we didn't touch it we wouldn't have to pay for it? Why didn't you say it was not possible to cancel it because it was 'ready' when we were discussing earlier?
Removing the unsolicited dishes from the bill is the BARE MINIMUM. Did you want me to pay for those instead too?
And the dish was terrible and bland. That is my opinion. I did not mention that it was bland in person because it was not relevant. I already told myself I would never come back plus any Italian friends. I paid for everything.
Everything in my original review stands. pizza being good and pasta being ok. But I would not recommend any non italian speaking tourists to visit! There was a restaurant just nearby that was almost full. Why is that one almost full while yours just...
Read moreThe restaurant is nice, the service as well, and the food was tasty. We were recommended a special pasta that was not listed on the menu, and we gladly accepted. However, €45 for a pasta dish felt quite excessive, especially since even the pasta with lobster on the menu was no more than €28. We do value quality, and we’ve been to excellent gourmet restaurants around the world, including in Sicily and Sardinia, but we’ve never paid so much for a pasta dish. A bit more transparency about prices would be welcome. Also, focaccia was served to the table without us ordering it, and we were charged for it. Again, more transparency would be appreciated. I believe the customer should be able to decide how much they...
