An overall nice and charming place with good service. Just do not take the chicken cutlet! After reading good reviews for this place, some friends and I ate at this restaurant and overall I had a good impression of the place, up until the point when I ate the food I had ordered, a chicken cutlet. The food was stringy and tasted a bit acid and unpleasant. It was such a bad taste, I had difficulties finishing it. Of course, also the other people who had taken the chicken cutlet were displeased, however those who took other dishes seemed happy. Another issue I have is with the person at the cashier: after paying (only cash payment were accepted) I asked the others whether anyone had been given a receipt but that was not the case. I am not saying he did not wrote a receipt, but he certainly did not give it to us. Moreover, he overcharged us by just a few euros, to “round up the price” and did so without asking. Usually, in my experience, the opposite happens and you get a small discount, so I cannot say I was happy with it. We were a bit shocked but we did not say anything, because arguing for such a trivial thing is not worth, but I later found that the behaviour really bothered me. This is a pity, because the service was honestly impeccable and the place really nice. I hope more attention will be placed in the future as to the quality of the food and the behaviour at the...

The BEST food we had in Umbria, and better than many fancy-pants restaurants in Bologna, Napoli, & Rome. (I know, I know . . . regional cuisine is different depending on where you are . . . but I'm drawing the comparison based on quality and tastiness of the food.)

We literally ate here every single day that we were in Umbria. So tasty and yet affordable. I was a little embarrassed that we would return every night without a reservation. But my husband was like, why be embarrassed? Their food is so good, and they're so used to us, they'll probably just laugh when they see us.

And they did.

Lovely trattoria experience. Mio marito and I will treasure our excellent meals at this...

Solita trafila per ricercare un posto per la cena e puntiamo sulla Trattoria del Corso (locale a conduzione familiare)

CONSIGLIO VIVAMENTE DI PRENOTARE: all'interno si possono accomodare al max 25/28 persone (occupando tutti i posti a sedere); all'esterno, cioé nell'atrio del locale, al max 8/10 persone.

Piatti voto 10 ai rinomati "cocci"; agli gnocchi al sagrantino; ai tonnarelli alla norcina; allo stinco di maiale (però nel piatto un pò meno olio sarebbe auspicabile...).

voto 5 alle patate in cenere perché troppo cotte (distrazione momentanea?); voto 3 al baccalà della nonna, scusate ma il baccalà dov'era? (le prugne a morire...).

Ambiente il locale come detto è molto piccolo, per cui si è seduti praticamente fianco a fianco con altri commensali, però l'atmosfera e l'empatia dei gestori, rendono il tutto una piacevole amalgama. Tovagliati, posate e bicchieri, puliti e senza macchie o aloni. Per quanto il forno a legna, vero cuore del locale (cucinano tutto lì dentro...) sia a un passo, non si viene mai investiti da odori di cucina.

Accoglienza voto 10 con lode alla figlia dei proprietari: ha ricordato immediatamente il cognome (senza leggere da nessuna parte...), è un "motorino" instancabile, ricorda tutto e precisamente, svolge un lavoro di sala (interna ed esterna) che farebbe la fortuna di qualsiasi ristorante/trattoria.

Permanenza voto 3 (o meno...) al "padrone di casa", con una bella tirata d'orecchie perché comprendo ci sia gente che aspetta, ma la domanda di rito tipo "serve altro, posso portare un dolce, un amaro, etc." è cosa d'obbligo = ha fatto il conto, ha scalato 2,50 € sul totale (!) ma non vedeva l'ora di farci alzare. PS se proponete voi i tavoli quadrati e siamo 3 sui potenziali 4 commensali la colpa non è nostra...!

Prezzi (da €€ a €€€€) un 10% in meno sul "conto in generale" sarebbe auspicabile in considerazione delle quantità servite ed anche perché non ha senso chiamarsi "trattoria" se poi le portate hanno costi da...
