Cacciani Ristorante — Restaurant in Frascati

If you are within even 100kms of this restaurant you MUST go. Hands down best lunch ever but also the service was so good it was almost unbelievable. We left feeling like we had gained an amazing uncle with all the smiles, and advice, even free little tidbits that we “must try”. Then add to that the owner (the grandson of the incredible chef who started the restaurant more than 100 years ago). My husband received a companionable shoulder squeeze hello soon after entering. Smiles all around. THEN stopping by during our lunch to tell us a little history before handing us a free book made for their centennial in 2022. Just WOW Obviously it has a Michelin star so the food is going to be incredible. We had roast pork entree to share, my husband a Sea bass dish that wasn’t on the menu (another great assistance from our waiter) and I had the steak. My husband usually isn’t a big seafood fan so I was surprised he asked “do you have any fish dish you can make”. The fish came in a tomato base sauce that you could drink by the glass and ALSO came with a plate full of shell fish which my husband usually doesn’t like at all. Much to my surprise he ate every last piece. So understated, so flavoursome. My steak was cooked to perfection and the rock salt on the side just made it memorable. But THEN! We asked what the 8 Euro “dessert” option was on the menu. They had 4 options. First Tirimasu (husbands favoured) so he chose. Second was a Mille-Feuille that was so light it defied physics so that was my choice! Then my husband made the mistake of asking what the other 2 options were. Apple pie and Trifle, OH NO our second 2 favourites!!! We had NO choice but to order those to take away for after dinner tonight (although they may be dinner because I am SO full). I hold a great deal of memories of this place from when I was a young kid and often came with mom and dad eager to eat their ‘cappelletti in brodo’. So it was only fair for me to take my parents and my own family out to have lunch here altogether once in the area. The atmosphere is pretty chill with that tranquil, rarified yet cozy and warm vibe that tempt you to seat back and relax to enjoy the gorgeous views from the open terrace or the huge windows that flood the ambient with light and a sense of openness. Alas, this is where for me the dream abruptly stopped and I had to wake up to a below-par, super slow service, food that despite the glorified menu was bland and the prices high. At the end of the day I need to ask myself: was I happy with what I (we) ate? No we weren’t. Would I gladly recommend friends and family to come here? Most probably not. A dull day in an otherwise fantastic streak of great food and service from this place? Perhaps, but I have no way of knowing: only have my experience from today to judge on. And memories from...

Matrimonio Che vi devo dire? Sarò telegrafico……ECCELLENTE. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di scegliere ( ma già avevamo avuto il piacere di frequentarlo ) Cacciani , per festeggiare con parenti ed amici il matrimonio di mia figlia . Non voglio annoiarvi con la descrizione di Frascati, che fa da scrigno al ristorante , perchè questa splendida cittadina, è già abbondantemente apprezzata e frequentata da romani e non; è invece mia intenzione ricambiare nel mio piccolo, almeno in parte, le attenzioni ricevute dai Cacciani, per questa occasione a dir poco , per me, Importante. La mia prima lode va quindi, ovviamente, ai padroni di casa, gli chef Paolo e Leopoldo Cacciani, che ci hanno pazientemente, costantemente e saggiamente seguito e consigliato per tutto il percorso di affinamento della cerimonia, proponendoci tante varie possibili combinazioni, tra i loro piatti storici, tipici della cucina romana ed atri più moderni, fino ad arrivare alla completa definizione, a noi più gradita, del menù per il banchetto. Un grazie di cuore anche alle due eccezionali responsabili di sala, Chiara e Laura, che hanno assecondato le svariate richieste di allestimento e presentazione proposte da noi genitori, ma soprattutto hanno dato vita ai desideri dagli sposi, facendo si che la cerimonia riuscisse nel migliore dei modi. Un riconoscente e sincero ringraziamento, “bravi, bravi, bravi” , a tutti i ragazzi (donne e uomini) che completano lo staff del locale. Tutti ci hanno amorevolmente servito e seguito, come se quell’ occasione di festa, fosse la loro festa e i nostri ospiti sono tutti rimasti entusiasti sia per location ( una incantevole terrazza dalla quale si domina tutta Roma ), che per il servizio, per l’amore sincero e verace con coi “la cucina” ha impreziosito di gusto ogni pietanza e per l’abbondanza nelle portate ( tipica frascatana ) proposte e riproposte. Gli invitati “ forestieri ” sono rimasti ospiti dell’attiguo albergo , sempre proprietà Cacciani ovviamente, che arricchisce e completa i servizi offerti dai proprietari, anche questo con molte camere che offrono una splendida vista dall’alto sulla città eterna.
