Kasa Incanto — Restaurant in Gaeta

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars. We came our first morning in Gaeta and were blown away by probably the best chocolate cornetti we have had in Italy. The service was sub par at best be quality was good enough to ignore.

We chose to come back the 2nd morning having dreamt about those cornetti. We sat down for 20 minutes watching the waitress clear, take orders for, and deliver orders to all the tables around us while willfully refusing to make eye contact with us while we waved and respectfully called out “Boungiorno” (this is the same waitress we had the previous day who also ignored us until we went inside to order at the bar). After 20 min of waiting we went inside to order at the bar again and we were told we had to order with our waitress outside. We waited another 5 minutes before walking out because she clearly didn’t want to serve us. I have lived in Italy for a year now and this is by far the worst treatment I have received at a bar and it was pretty obvious to me we ignored because we are not Italian. If you are Italian by all go because the quality of product is great but if you are a tourist you might want to reconsider. I am so...

On holiday my wife, mother, and sister met a good friend from Gaeta here for aperitivo and dinner. The setting is traditional western-seaside Italian with perfect views of the water on the bar side and quaint Italian alley views on the restaurant side. Everything was fantastic. The bar staff did a great job of putting together some truly unique and delicious drinks. Not to be outdone the chef put together some excellent seafood based dishes. She even came out to the table to see how we were enjoying things...always a nice touch.

Durante la mia permanenza a Gaeta, Kasa Incanto è stato senza dubbio uno dei miei locali preferiti. Arredato con gusto e dotato di un incantevole spazio esterno che si affaccia sul porto, è uno dei pochi posti che offre un servizio completo dalla colazione al dopocena. La scoperta migliore l’ho fatta di sera: musica dal vivo, un’atmosfera rilassata, un servizio adeguato al contesto, con personale giovane ma cordiale e puntuale. Si tratta di un locale trasversale, frequentato da persone di tutte le età, sia turisti che residenti. Ho deciso quindi di provarlo anche in altri momenti della giornata, come la mattina per la colazione, ma qui l’esperienza non è stata altrettanto accurata: il personale si è mostrato meno attento e qualche piccolo disguido - prontamente risolto dalla proprietà - ha inciso sulla qualità complessiva; inoltre il cappuccino servito con latte freddo ha avuto un prezzo superiore alla media.  Anche durante l’aperitivo ho notato che i prezzi sono leggermente più alti rispetto agli standard abituali, ciò potrebbe essere giustificato da una maggiore quantità di appetizers offerti, che suggerisco. In sintesi, Kasa Incanto presenta due facce della stessa medaglia: la sera regala cura e piacevolezza indiscutibili, mentre durante il giorno sarebbe opportuno dedicare maggiore attenzione ai dettagli per garantire un’esperienza all’altezza delle aspettative.
