La Piedigrotta - via Canevari — Restaurant in Genoa

We spent three nights in Genoa for a leisure break. Although there was an abundance of restaurants in our area, mainly pizzerias; we enjoyed our experience at La Piedigrotta the first night so much, that we dined there on the following two evenings also. There was nothing to be faulted, except the minor inconvenience of not having regular lime soda to drink. But this is more of a regional issue, nothing attributable to the restaurant itself. We are an English/German couple with zero knowledge of the Italian language, but there were no failures in communication. We were even provided with an English menu. Our large dog was welcomed too, but noticed that a lot of establishments in the area prohibited the entry of dogs. The food is very delicious and plentiful and extremely good value for money. Service was fast and attentive. Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit if in this...

Amazing and authentic italian food. Great pasta and pizza...even better service.

We are tourists, dropping in by chance as a nearby restaurant was unexpectedly closed for the day. And boy, were we pleasantly surprised!

The waitress was super friendly and tried her very best to explain dishes and the day's special to us in English. She was attentive, sincere and prompt. We felt very welcomed in a restaurant full of locals.

We had the pesto lasagna, frutti de mare and diavola pizza (off menu but they would happy prepare it for you). Home made bread was interesting..the frutti de mare was fresh and flavourful - it was everything i was craving for (and more). Hubby loved the diavola as well - crust was thin and crisp. Un vero peccato perché sono sempre stata una loro cliente, sia per le pizze d'asporto sia per il ristorante nel quale ho mangiato tante volte, tra cene e conpleanni. Ho sempre suggerito agli amici e parenti di andare da loro ma purtroppo credo che le cose siano cambiate ma soprattutto quello che è cambiato è l'educazione oltre alla qualità di alcuni cibi. Abbiamo chiamato alle 19.07 ordinando tre pizze, una di queste era la "porcini freschi", inizialmente ci hanno addirittura detto che ce le volevano fare subito ma noi avevamo chiamato chiedendo se fosse possibile riceverle alle 20 e loro ci hanno risposto "PERFETTO, ANZI MEGLIO!". Alle ore 20.16 il mio compagno chiama chiedendo delle pizze e il ragazzo gli ha risposto pronunciando il nome della via come interrogativo...le nostre pizze erano finite nel dimenticatoio e loro hanno aggiunto che era capitato per via del caos che avevano, subito dopo il ragazzo dice che loro non avevano porcini ma solo champignon e giustamente gli chiediamo perché ci avessero accettato la pizza un ora prima. Ovviamente però il prezzo della pizza era giustificato dalla presenza dei porcini freschi e pertanto abbiamo chiesto se però il prezzo della pizza cambiasse e il ragazzo ha risposto "NO SIGNORA IL PREZZONON CAMBIA AFFATTO, NON CI SONO I PORCINI MA GLI CHAMPIGNON SI" e li ovviamente iniziamo a controbattere dato anche il tono che usava e prosegue con un altra frase infelice "SIGNORA SE NON VUOLE SPENDERE CHIAMI DI LUNEDÌ CHE LE PIZZE STANNO A 4 EURO E NON PERDIAMO TEMPO". Gli faccio notare la maleducazione e lui dice che non è vero e mi passa un altra persona, dalla voce sembrava più grande ma lo stesso infastidito, dice che il prezzo della pizza non sarebbe stato lo stesso ma inferiore e che il ragazzo non sapeva quello che diceva🤔. Optiamo per una gorgonzola bianca con funghi giusto per avere un po più di sapore. Finisce questa brutta chiamata e le pizze dopo un po arrivano con una lattina in più per le scuse ma la pizza sbagliata perché la gorgonzola bianca si era trasformata magicamente in rossa.
