Casa del Massaro — Restaurant in Giardini-Naxos

I got food poisoning.

We chose this place in order to try typical Sicilian cuisine. Unfortunately, it wasn't a very good dining experience. Beautiful atmosphere located at Naxos Resort with outdoor seating and a polite staff. It was a set menu at about 35 euros per person and we had to pay in advance. The food was horrible. It was buffet style with appetizers, a main course, then dessert. The appetizers and dessert were inside the restaurant while the main course was outside where servers reheated the food with burners. None of the cheeses and meats for the appetizers had been sitting out for a while and we're warm and didn't taste fresh. The dessert selection simply wasn't to my liking but had also been sitting out awhile. The main course was absolutely terrible. The server was barely able to heat up the pasta. It was way too oily and salty. I then tried the lasagne, again, they didn't properly heat the food and I wasn't able to finish that either. We spent 2 weeks at UNAHOTELS Giardini Naxos and took the opportunity to enjoy a Sicilian dinner at “Massaro” restaurant. The atmosphere was fantastic as well as the restaurant and the services. Carmelo, the maitre sommelier, walked us through the wine options and advised us greatly. We could accompany a delicious and tasty dinner with an exquisite local wine! My mother and I had a fabulous Sicilian evening yesterday. All three courses were absolutely delectable. Everything we savoured bursted with local flavours. The buffet was artfully arranged and presented with relaxing music that enhanced the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant. The service under the management of Maitre/Sommelier Carmelo inspired us to book Massaro again for tonight. Can’t wait to see and taste what they conjure up...
