I'm sorry but the owner may be the most arrogant and rude person I have ever seen. Anyone who had experience with him, you can read here that they say he never says sorry and is very overly, rudely sarcastic. If you are lucky enough not to have a disturbance with him, you can say, yes the food is good. We waited over 20 minutes to ORDER, we asked a couple times, there was only one person taking orders on a Friday night and when we as a hangry customer protested, he said, "oh yeah? You seem very upset. Oh yeah? You can go back and wait a bit more." What??????? Are you out of your mind? How is this a way to react to paying customers? No apologies. We left and will never go back. Go for the food, but the owner is completely ruining the standards of friendly hospitality of Puglia and Giovinazzo.
(Replying on the reply from the owner) We were waiting for over 20 minutes, asking multiple times to multiple people, everyone brushing off saying they're coming they're coming. One single person taking orders sorry, is clearly not enough. We were not the only ones who were showing frustration at the place. Read the other negative reviews here, they date back from years. What have you done to improve this? Nada.
So if you are saying we were disrespectful by asking multiple times, only to get ignored multiple times, and that the behavior of making fun of your customers by saying "oh yeah? Oh yeah? You can wait longer" is acceptable, not sure where YOUR professionalism and respect toward customers lies. Please don't accuse us for being disrespectful, when the SARCASM and disrespect was...
Read moreAbsolute worst experience. It was our last night in the city with friends so we wanted a good dinner but it was a total joke. Our friends waited a literal hour for their food after our antipasti came. 3 out of the 5 meals came out. When we followed up, they told us that what he had originally ordered was not available (this was after following up multiple times)
The guy who seemed like the manager (older, white haired guy - wearing a blue shirt) was totally aloof the entire time.
To start, he was sarcastic when we ordered a drink that was off the menu. Sarcastic when we told him one of our friends has severe dietary allergy. Then when we told him about the issue with the missing food - all he said was “our staff is sick”. No apologies whatsoever. Mind you, we were the first table in the entire restaurant.
Then some of our guests were foreigners and they tried to charge the food that did not come out. Totally embarrassing.
I suggest you close your doors on evenings that you cannot do service for reasons such as an...
Read moreMy wife and I are in Giovinazzo for the month, using this location as our hub to visit other sites, towns and villages in the Apulia Region. Last night we decided to try “Il Duca”. Now everyone has there own experience and opinions. Our experience was excellent, the atmosphere was perfect. Our server and host were awesome. Our waitress, who was very friendly, provided some good suggestions and recommendations. Most important the food was great. I had the “grilled mixed meat” and my wife the “Zampina”. Overall our favourite was the homemade “Apulian Bombette”, just delicious. Our opinion... highly recommend “Il Duca”. As we plan to be back in a few days to try the “porchetta” sandwich and more Primitivo wine...
