La Fattoria di Vignamaggio — Restaurant in Greve in Chianti

We stayed at La Pensione but then ended up booking the Colori di Vignamaggio Tasting experience at La Fattoria. We had intended on booking another experience originally, but they were fully committed, so we took what we could get. As soon as we arrived, we received a warm welcome by Alessandro, who ended up being with us and guiding our entire experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the wines as well as the history of the region and Vignamaggio itself. The Colori di Vignamaggio experience was amazing, but Alessandro was kind enough to squeeze in time for a tasting of the Chianti Classico’s as well (which we originally hoped to try!) These are a must!! The little bites were delicious, the wines were phenomenal and had a great variety, the balsamic vinegar was to die for, and the service was 5 star. Visited La Fattoria with my parents and husband. We couldn’t book anything online so we just showed up and asked for recommendations. We were offered a tasting tour for €40 per person. First member of staff was very friendly, although we only got two glasses of wine and a bit of bread to taste two olive oils. Second staff member practically ran us through the building, talking very fast. I had to translate for my parents, a few times I just had to and interrupt staff to translate. She ignored me and just kept talking over me. Not the best experience and definitely not worth €40. The estate itself is beautiful, stunning views. Would be nice to have a walking path back to Panzano as you can either drive back (after wine tasting) or wait for a bus next to a main road and the last one leaves at 6pm. We actually haven't planned to go to Fattoria Vignamaggio, we simply needed to stop there due to a flat tire. All we had to drink was a espresso (which was delicious by the way) but the 5-star review is due to the absolute kindness and care by their staff. They literally called up a nearby tire repair shop, and even helped us translate everything. While we were there just waiting, we were stunned by how beautiful the whole place is... A genuine thank you, and see you later for the complete wine...
