We had no real idea of the celebrity status of the owner, so had no expectations or bias coming in. I enjoy the concept of making tasty food out of lesser used cuts and it was was a really enjoyable experience overall. The butcher himself showed up a couple times and was really friendly and willing to take photos with fans. I have to say however, that the staff were really unhelpful during our arrival and departure. In the email we were instructed to arrive early to enjoy an aperitif but they didn't even inform us of where to get this, we had to ask our table-mates. When we wanted to pay, the staff were more keen to chat amongst themselves and let us stand there. During the lunch, the staff just seemed to want to get the job over and done with and almost never told us what it was that they were serving us. The food itself was great, though I didn't find it to be exceptional. The wine was delicious as was expected for being in the heart of Chianti. As a couple, you're seated with others and luckily our table-mates were fun and interesting people, otherwise the atmosphere would have been poor. I would still say it was worth the experience, though I wouldn't eat there again.

Normally you need to book months in advance to get into this very popular meat loving restaurant. It is famous all over Italy. We were lucky to get a spot for two on the same day. It is a degustation meal and comes with unlimited water, Chianti wine, bread, and second serves of meat. Their philosophy is to eat all the cow and that they do. You get plates from the muzzle to the butt. It finished with a homemade local cake, coffee and grappa. For €40 per person. You are put on communal table which just makes the experience better, as you meet people from all over the world.

And yet: at a very reasonable price and with friendly service they manage to still convey the feeling of being at a neighbour's barbecue party. And what a feast it is! The dishes keep coming and so does the wine until no one can eat anything anymore. Very fresh and well cooked meats and raw vegetables served with Chianti wine. A dream. Reserve at least a week in advance, arrive on time and be amazed.

Alcuni luoghi restano impressi nella memoria per immagini meravigliose come solo la Natura sa donare. Poi ci sono luoghi che restano impressi nell'anima e nel cuore perché sono luoghi fatti da persone che ti donano il loro amore e la loro passione attraverso la loro arte e gentilezza. Persone i cui occhi brillano in modo così profondo che ti coinvolgono in ogni istante e rendono la tua esperienza un viaggio attraverso i sapori dell'anima. Il Gran Maestro Dario Cecchini e la sua splendida famiglia, fatta da tutte le meravigliose persone che lavorano insieme a lui, sono tra quelle pochissime persone ad infondere in ciò che fanno tutto il loro cuore, passione ma soprattutto amore. Danno del tu ad un elemento unico ed immensamente difficile da gestire qual è la Carne, quella vera...LA CICCIA! Le persone, i cuori che lavorano qui, riescono a dar vita a qualcosa che tocca l'anima nel profondo. Con la degustazione di carni incomincia un viaggio fantastico attraverso un mondo stupendo, proprio come un film di fantasia. Due sono gli elementi predominanti: la tecnica di cottura e preparazione e la materia prima di qualità eccelsa. La tecnica di cottura, perfettamente eseguita, è un'ampia e sapiente dimostrazione di conoscenza di cosa significhi professionalità, esperienza e maestria nel cuocere la carne. Questo standard qualitativo permette al cliente di godere appieno dei sapori dei vari tagli, dei sentori e degli aromi, tutti perfettamente bilanciati che rendono unico ogni assaggio, assoluto o unitamente ai contorni. La maniacalitá di Dario e del suo gruppo è di livelli incredibili. L’arte è creatività, ispirazione, abilità, immaginazione e passione. La meravigliosa armonia, i profumi ed il sapore della carne che troverete qui riempiranno il vostro palato ed il vostro cuore di gioia, armonia e piacere. Ci vuole un altissima maestria per creare una realtà del genere ma, soprattutto, ci vuole un amore infinito. I consigli su quale carne assaggiare e come cuocerla si rivelano decisivi nell'esaltare i sapori che, in bocca, appaiono netti, corposi ma allo stesso tempo delicati e persistenti al fin di bocca. C’è abilità e passione in ogni fase del processo di preparazione dei vari tagli. Questi elementi combinati sono una forma di espressione d'amore. Il prodotto finale o “l’opera d’arte completata” viene quindi condivisa e apprezzata da tutti i commensali. Ogni tipologia di carne è una meravigliosa poesia che vorresti non smettesse mai. Sapori e profumi sono i protagonisti di quest'avventura incredibile che inizia varcando la soglia di questa antica bottega fatta di persone, cuori, anime, passioni. Il servizio è connotato da un altissmo livello professionale estremamente raro da incontrare proprio perché informale ma puntuale e preciso, sempre. Un locale che nasconde in se un immenso universo. Qualsiasi prodotto è di una qualità che oltrepassa la perfezione. I sapori sono così sublimi che creano un'immediata dipendenza! La scelta delle carni di primissima qualità e l'abilità massima nel trasformarle, sono a garanzia dell'eccellenza massima. Uniformità e bilanciamento, alla perfezione, nel sapore, nella consistenza, nei profumi. Cottura Blue Rare di un livello incredibile. Sapori genuini e sinceri che inebriano il cuore ed l'anima di coloro i quali sono in grado di comprendere l'immenso valore della semplicità di una tradizione antichissima. Un concerto di perfezione e unicità che può essere ascoltato ed ammirato solo qui. Ogni taglio che viene preparato è come una carezza dolce di una mamma al suo bambino appena sveglio al mattino. Profumi incredibili e qualità eccelsa sono solo il contorno all'elmento principale che è il protagonista assoluto: le mani intrise di sapere e piene d'amore. Questo luogo, per me, è divenuto casa, é un abbraccio profondo e caldo che trovo ogni volta che entro.

Solociccia was better then I expected. The whole experience, and the amount of food; I can assure you’re completely full if you eat everything. The food even tastes amazing! Also, we met some people from the other side of the world!

We actually ordered the vegetarian menu at the reservation, but got the full meat menu. I don’t know what happened, but luckily for us it was not a problem at all.

The only reason I won’t recommend you to eat here, is if you don’t like meat. You won’t get any plants (only some veggies on the side).

I also love that you get free refills of the water and (non pasteurized) wine.

The only thing I didn’t like about my experience, was that some Americans kept talking...
