Ristorante L'Oliveto — Restaurant in Grottaferrata

I travel all over the world. I know good food. I know good restaurants. I also know when people lie and are honest. My hotel recommended I eat here and they made the reservation for Saturday at 8:00 PM. From the moment I arrived I felt "rushed'"; this despite the place was empty. Several of the appetizers I asked for were not available. That happens. I ordered grilled Belgian Endive. It was really execellent. For my main course I selected rabbit with olives and rosemary. It was truly superb. For my last course I ordered Scarmoza with prosciutto and radicchio. It arrived without the radicchio. When I inquired, I was told it was a mistake and they would fix it. The next dish arrived but it came with same endive eaten before and not radicchio. The manager then tried to tell me that what was in my plate was not endive but ''"white" radicchio. How insulting! I am 75 years old and have seen a lot but this brazen lie sent me over the top. I left after paying 50 euros and vowed never to return. The restaurant is physically lovely. The food is good but deception and lieing is unforgiveable. They offered me a free dessert which I declined. Do not treat me like a fool. You need to be honest. This is a problem in Italian society. Purtroppo ci risiamo, il classico posto carino ma quando fai fare a loro ti fanno pagare uno sproposito. Abbiamo chiesto un antipasto per 2 essendo 4, le nostre mogli non avevano molto fame, quindi abbiamo detto porti per 2. Ci hanno portato 11 bruschette piccole al prezzo di 3 € l’una 🧐. Una mozzarella di bufala (che bufala non era) costo spropositato. La solita acqua naturale filtrata, ordinata una e ne ha portate due, oltre a questo una delle due era quasi finita mancava un bicchiere d’acqua, la portata indietro e la riempita di nuovo, all’ira ho pensato sicuramente non sara a pagamento visto che non gli avevo chiesto nulla, all ultimo sullo scontrino mi ritrovo il costo di 4 bottiglie 😞. Pizza non eccezionale, nella media, primo normale anche se con porcini e carciofi, gusto non adatto al prezzo e al locale che credevo . All’ultimo però ci ha fatto 2,50 di sconto. Insomma io odio chi prova con questo stratagemma a passare per un locale alla mano facendo addirittura lo sconto ma poi avendo queste lacune, come il prenderai queste libertà di portare acqua senza chiederla, metterne addirittura di più sul conto, chiedere un antipasto per due e ritrovarsi il costo dell antipasto di 70 € ( menomale che avevo...

Lovely Sunday night! We came too early (around 7:30), and huge restaurant was just for us. Heartwarming service, sincere advices and delicious food accompanied with local wine and gelato. What else can you dream of dolce vita? I’m poor with Italian language, but our souls met here, and we truly spoke same with the owners....
