Eden Bar — Restaurant in Lipari

When we passed the place to check the menu, some waiter approached us. We said we are interested in the cocktails. He instantly told us that with the cocktails there come snacks and "everything is included in the price".

We decided to come later the evening to drink a cocktail. When we sat down in the evening, we checked the menu again and found "Coperta 2€/person".

Kind of lame to tell customers that "everything is included in the price" and fail to mention that "everything included" still means 2€ service fee extra per person. So the cocktails would have been 12 instead of 10 euros.

Well, we left the place without comment since we don't want to support such tourist scams. This seems to be a thing on the Eolian islands since we experienced the same on Stromboli, but never on Sicily itself during our trip.

I guess with 10€/cocktail you would have had a nice profit margin, now you get...

We sat and were served by very friendly servers and were offered the deal with tomato bread flats (tuna, onion and pesto, cheese, rocket) with charcuterie board and a drink. We communicated clearly that we wanted 1 serving of the deals to share and they proceeded to bring two. We decided to eat it anyway as we were hungry, and after arriving home after the meal my girlfriend was very sick and vomited all evening.

We are extremely unhappy and feel scammed.

Furthermore, the tuna and meat they used were extremely poor quality.

Edit: it seems as though now my girlfriend has had an allergic reaction to the pesto in the dish. She is allergic to nuts and we specifically asked whether there were nuts in the meal - to which we were told...

Just had dinner at Eden Bar and I cannot understand what reference some reviewers are making about “good price”. Certainly not great for the island compared to other better restaurants. Cocktails are priced at around 10€, where we got the same for half the price in other places on Lipari and Vulcano. Wine starts at 6.50€, when the night before we paid €4. The service was really pretty indeferent, to the point that it completely stopped after we finished our main course. I had to get up and go get the bill as the staff didn’t seem to bother to come and see if we needed anything (and we were very visible to them). Would not go back, would not recommend.
