Beautifully located in Manerba, overlooking lake Garda and rewarded with a Michelin star, one basically expects great service and creative, inspiring food.
Unfortunately, none of this seems to exist here (anymore)!
We encountered a bored/tired staff with slow and a partly arrogant/rude service & attitude. No warm welcome, our emptied glasses where only partly cleared from the table, etc.
Our hopefully experienced sommelier (which you can expect from a restaurant in this price range) only avinated one out of 3 glasses.
My husband ordered a filet steak 'medium-rare', and was served with a more or less 'medium/well-done' version. Noticing the waiter about this issue and requesting it redone, that problem could have been solved easily.
But not here with Capriccio's chef and patron Giuliana Germiniasi who apparently has her own interpretation of the right cooking state and challenges dealing with criticism in a professional manner.
Following a longer discussion at the table with a staff member, my husband was finally served with a decently prepared meat, but not without being lectured at the end that this is 'rare cooked' in the chef's own view.
The only chilled staff member this evening seemed to be the dog of the house lying on the terrace;-)
All other dishes served this night were okay but considering our expectations rather bland and for the matter of fact overpriced.
After this experience we were not in the mood to stay any longer and skipped deserts.
I am sure there are more accommodating and welcoming restaurants in the area...

Run by a humble and talented mother-daughter duo, this Michelin-starred spot by Lake Garda is one of the most beautiful restaurants weâve ever been toâinside and out. The terrace alone is magic: peaceful, elegant, and every single table (inside or outside) has a different, stunning view. It feels like every guest is treated to their own little corner of paradise.
What I love most is how quietly confident the restaurant is. They donât try to do too muchâjust the very best. Every seafood dish is delicate, refreshing, and full of intention. You can taste the care in every bite. No drama, no excessâjust pure quality, beautifully done.
The service? So warm. So graceful. It feels like youâre being welcomed into someoneâs serene lakeside homeâbut with flawless technique and world-class flavors.
Capriccio is classic, elegant, and genuinely special. I have so much respect for their philosophy, their restraint, and their dedication to excellence. I canât wait to return. This place isnât just Michelin-star-worthyâitâs...
Read moreI was very sad by the quality of this restaurant. I was expecting yummy tasting food , excellent service and fun time . If you are not Italian , I would not go. Takes 3 hours for full course menu( which is abnormal for people from other countries). Food is really doesnât tastes good . Service is ok. Super slow , even though I asked them I just want to eat food . When I said that food was bad and I didnât like it , they asked me how much I want to pay . I regret paying half , I didnât eat any this food . I expected them to be concerned and regretting that food made me so sad and not even wanting to eat it . The guy didnât care whatsoever.
