This place (I mean only the restaurant, not locarna!) was recommended by our host. Unfortunately, I didn't check the reviews where exactly our issue points were mentioned: no communication, almost no explanation of the menu, famous I'll take care of it (for our money though), irritated waiter/owner, fast-fast-fast with no hospitality vibes. Where is the genuine Italian hospitality? We ordered a plate of seafood crudite plate (the most pricey item on the menu), we were served two portions which we realised only after along with the bill. The argument from the waiter was the number! But, seriously, who counts your food when you want to relax and enjoy? And you want to TRUST your host. The restaurant was also half empty, no great atmosphere at all. You rather go for fish to the lake and will be much more welcomed! On our question, what you can recommend after the starter, an almost irritated host hurries up with no explanation of the menu. And the best came at the end! When we noticed that we didn't order two plates, the waiter/owner got furious and threw the bill over the table. The arguments destroyed the rest of the evening. We paid the whole amount and left totally disappointed. Be careful while booking this restaurant! So many reviews about the restaurant are old, the restaurant definitely needs the...
Read moreSo we’re staying in Lake Garda (that should read at Lake Garda) and by far the best restaurant we’ve been to has to be Locanda da Vittorio. We were walking passed, having eaten, and decided to check it out. |A beautifully lit garden with all the tables full. I asked a waiter, incidentally the most laid back and yet efficient waiter I’ve ever encountered, if we could have a glass of wine. He magically put together, on the fringes, a table for two with two wine glasses. He then served another table some white wine and when passing us left the bottle on our table. |We had a lovely night and when I went up to pay , he brushed the suggestion aside as if it was bad manners. We booked for the following night and that was very special. Truffle egg starter to die for, followed by delicious linguini with a mixture of ‘lake fish’ and all in that perfect setting. We booked for the following night ( tonight - watch this space). When we asked (twice) for the bill, again he brushed the suggestion aside and said ‘tomorrow’. As I said laid back yet sort of brilliant. |If you’re anyway near, you must go to Locanda da Vittorio - a rare experience and...
