La Marinara — Restaurant in Marsala

Unless you like mineral water and/or fine wine served you with a great service - do not go there! After reading reviews from Google (bummer) - I decided to stop at Marsala & reserved a place for dinner. this was Afternoon and I already found the place but it was closed for food.

Before the dinner, i luckily went on the boardwalk, Archeological museum, parking spots to sea sunset cozily from your car with or without family, a bar/Cafe to sip your favorite drink to see the sunset, discovered beach parking and night food stand for called "Lucky Burger - American Theme" (Panninis are great and a great local hangout very busy joint, by the beach paring lot).

Now I came to this place driving from Mazaro del Valle. As I was 'solo' and it was just a casual dinner, I didn't dress up so it sucked when everyone else in the Restaurant staff was dressed up like they're performing in a movie ...they forced order me a mineral water, and then I settled for just a fried seafood platter. It was if they cut a plastic bag open from low class grocery store (cheapest one you can find) and put it right into the boiling oil. There was tiny shrimp (w/o shell), squid, octopus, two types of small pieces of fish and some shelled shrimp. Fish parts are near of the tail and with skin. All smelled and tasted weird, somewhat soapy and without any kind of seasoning.

To my surprise, the restaurant was filled with nicely dressed up families of other people who were nice ly dressed up to make it an occasion, where I was not.

I quickly asked for a bill and made my way out.

It was (0) experience in Sicily ...where later I went to Lucky Burger ...to have a Pannini Sandwich for which the wait was one hour ...but super yummy !

I am still clueless, about the quality of the food I was served there. The mineral water tasted good ...but that was supposed to be! There was nothing good there ... at...

We left quite shocked for the whole experience. We arrived late (almost 11 pm) and they let us sit with a very friendly attitude despite the time. We didn't know anything about the restaurant so we asked for a cheap white wine. The suggestion was an amazing wine made with Grillo grapes from Pellegrino canteen. It was so good that we will try to find the bottle back in Amsterdam. I am originally from Naples, we are famous there for the sea food, beside white wine. I have to say that I haven't eaten fish like that in years. Super fresh, tasty and cooked with such a care and balance of ingredients tipical of Sicily (or raw! Yes we also had raw gamberetti laid on wild rice from Canada as part of the antipasto, which also included tuna salami!). Don't miss La Marinara. Top culinary...

Ho dato 2 stelle perché il pesce era buono e loro sono stati premurosi. Ma dietro a questa loro disponibilità si nascondeva la beffa! Sono Siciliano, quindi abituato a mangiare del buon pesce e so anche i prezzi del pesce quando vai a sederti al ristorante! Veramente scandaloso ed imbarazzante il comportamento truffaldino dei proprietari! Premettendo che ordino: una grigliata di pesce x 2 persone ( 3 gamberoni rossi, 1 calamaro e 2 tentacoli di polipo ), 1 bottiglia di acqua, 1 bottiglia di Maria Costanza, 1 di patate lesse ed 1 parfait di mandorle. Ancora affamato, perché la grigliata di pesce forse andava bene per una persona, chiedo il conto. 101,00€ il totale! La grigliata me la stavano facendo pagare 60,00€ e hanno maggiorato di 2€ il prezzo del vino, da 23€ da menù a 25€! Sono diventato una furia e dunque chiamo il proprietario e gli faccio presente il mio disappunto sul prezzo del pesce e sul vino! Lui mi dice che c’e stato un errore, ma palesemente avevano provato a truffarmi anche perché sullo scontrino c’erano specificate le cose che avevo ordinato con il prezzo accanto! Dunque mi porta un secondo scontrino, TOT 80,00€! Mi viene da ridere, gli paleso ancora una volta il mio disappunto, dicendogli pure che per lo stesso piatto a Palermo due giorni prima avevo pagato 13,00€. Lui mi dice che è impossibile xke il pesce che mi aveva portato pesava 700grammi e che costava 6,00€ ogni 100 gr e quindi 6x7= 42,00€, però nel secondo scontrino era segnata a 45,00€! 700gr di pesce??? Per esserci quella quantità che diceva lui sul piatto, mi viene da pensare che la bilancia o è truccata o che lo hanno pesato almeno insieme a 300gr di ghiaccio! Per concludere , il proprietario , imbarazzato mi dice che mi fa un ulteriore sconto di 10,00€, facendomi pagare 70,00€ e torna al tavolo dove ero seduto con un coppo di pasta, dicendomi che è un omaggio della casa per scusarsi del accaduto! Ovviamente il coppo di pasta non l’ho preso, ma questa recensione mi ero ripromesso di scriverla al più presto! Morale della favola? Uscito dal ristorante, dopo la truffa ricevuta e ancora affamato, sono andato a mangiare una pizza! Mi auguro che tutti i ristoratori a Marsala non siano dei TRUFFATORI! SEVERAMENTE...
