Bagni Africano — Restaurant in Massa Lubrense

We came here at 15.00 and the white haired owner offered us the beds for half of the price which totally made sense. Once we wanted to leave at around 18.00 he asked the full price of 50€ because we didn’t have lunch in his restaurant and spent 1,5h of the 3h in another place lunching. When confronted with what we discussed upfront he screamed at me, ran off and left the affair to 2 ladies that kept on asking me if I completely lost my mind even daring to ask for a discount (after it was promised initially). Amazingly friendly staff, good quality food at a reasonable price. Africano has been here since 1958 and you can see why they have so many regular customers (both locals and international visitors). Also have it's own private beach where you can rent a sun lounger for €10 euros and a parasol to keep the sun off you for €5. It was €25 euros for 2 loungers and a parasol and we stayed here all day + had lunch at the restaurant. Cosa centra la Persia con l'Africa? In un mese di vacanza a Nerano abbiamo cenato 16 volte dall'Africano e ci siamo sentiti come dei Pascià. Cenare ad un metro dalla riva del mare sulla spiaggia senza ombrelloni, ti fa andare indietro negli anni, ti da un privilegio che solo qui puoi apprezzare. Quindi, location, 10 e lode! Abbiamo assaggiato tutto quello che offre il menù, tartare di palamito (piccolo tonnetto), spaghetti con palamito scottato, oppure trancio in crosta; che perfezione!! Gamberoni in crosta con maionese all'aglio o bavette con gamberi rossi crudi, a detta di mia moglie, in assoluto i migliori! A mio avviso invece, la pasta con i "cucuzzielli", detta anche pasta alla Nerano, ha vinto la speciale classifica dei vari ristoranti che abbiamo visitato; veramente squisita. Tutte le mattine, arriva il pescatore con le sue prede del giorno. Metterle sulla griglia e servirle in tavola, è un attimo, ma è una delizia per il palato. Pesce fresco cotto con maestria e patate al forno oppure scarola alla napoletana, mi fanno venire l'acquolina in bocca, anche a distanza di 15 giorni!! Per chi non ama il pesce, consiglio un'ottima t-bone, tenerissima. Dulcis in fundo e proprio dulcis, un ottimo tiramisù che era un pezzo che non mangiavamo così buono. Che dire d'altro, super gentilezza dei proprietari, perfetta esecuzione della cucina, servizio ineccepibile e.....
