We came across the delightful Hotel in whilst staying in Nerano in 2016 - we liked its proximity standing on the beach at the Southern end of the bay in Marina del Cantone. When we got back to the UK we did some research and booked for 4 nights in June as part as a 2 centre stay on the Amalfi Coast ||After a wonderful trip from Atrani using local public transport which included 2 Sita bus journeys and the Ferry from Amalfi to Sorrento (via Positano & Capri) we were met by a very welcoming Claudio. We were quickly whisked off to our room 303. We expected the Hotel to be pleasant enough but the room presented to us was far beyond expectations. Tastefully decorated in a contemporary but charming style the bedroom was a good size with plenty of cupboard space leading to a well appointed bathroom with power shower. The best was yet to come as we were presented with a lovely balcony through the patio style doors with a wonderful view of the whole bay. For us the balcony is such an important aspect of a holiday accommodation and this was up there with the very best. ||We quickly got changed and headed off to the beach where we were met by Toni who prepared our complementary beds on the shingle beach. The Hotel claims a small plot of @20 beds for exclusive use of the guests ||The Hotel runs an exclusive restaurant but after just staying at the compulsory (Michelin) half board Hotel in Atrani we opted for eating light on an evening at one of the local restaurants ||Now we come to the real stand out moment...we’ve been to Italy many times in fact I’m a reasonably well travelled person but for me I must admit this is probably the best breakfast experience I have enjoyed...sat outside on a covered patio overlooking the bay of Nerano taking in the hustle and bustle of the locals with the most delightful and varied offerings...see my pictures... I could have sat there for hours....many thanks to Mariella for the best Cafe Latte on planet earth ||We had the most wonderful & memorable 4 days at the Captiano – this place may be too quiet for some but for us it is everything we need for a relaxing few days to recharge the batteries. A lovely clean comfortable family run Hotel away from the madding crowds in a special corner on the Massa Lubrense Peninsula. A real find .||We...

Read moreTo be clear, we ended up NOT eating at this restaurant for dinner. So, normally I would never write a review, but the interactions with the staff in the 10-20min we had were so awful and baffling i decided to share.
5 of us walked into the restaurant dressed for dinner and asked about a table for a large group. We wanted to confirm that was okay even though the restaurant was 80% empty looking in. The staff was rude and speaking down to us from the get go, which was off putting. We ended up getting a table for 5 and they served us water, but there was a misunderstanding with our group and we wanted to eat at a different restaurant. Totally understand this is annoying, but things happen and we were apologetic and polite about it. When we tried to explain that we didn't want to order anything and wanted to leave (we paid for the water) the man there began shouting at our party. Not an exaggeration, this man raised his voice to yelling, and then proceeded to literally shoo us with his arms as we exited out the door. It couldn't have been a pleasant interaction for the few other customers eating there.
The staff was so rude and condescending from the very get go and then continued to prove themselves as such throughout our short interaction. Normally I wouldn't question this, but it felt very pointed that we were treated this way when 3/5 of our group was non-white (east Asian, black, and Indian) and they had a blatantly blackface statue decorating their restaurant. Also note that one of our group was raised their entire life in Europe, another of us spoke Italian, and several of us have lived abroad, so I don't think our behavior or expectations were so out of place as to deserve that treatment.
I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, no matter how good the food is, as a POC or ally to POC I would never feel comfortable here or would want to spend my...
