Miserable Italian food in the heart of Italy! 💔 A tourist trap that lacks authenticity. How does this place have that good of a rating? Both pasta dishes were bland and flavorless; they tasted like spaghetti from a school canteen. Someone wrote in a comment two years ago that if you value good cooking, steer clear of this place. They were right and still are! The ravioli was served with a hearty serving of pasta water on the plate that diluted the tomato puree they were in. And as for the "sauce," I'd have better luck finding something tastier if I picked out a jar of ready-made spaghetti at the store nearby. The stuffing was bland and unseasoned, like hospital food, and to add insult to injury, both pasta dishes were soft, soggy, and overcooked. On a positive note, the arancini deserved a solid 7/10 and makes for a great entrée. Came in hungry and hopeful, left sad and discontented.
In response to the restaurant's reply: Excuse me, but what part of my opinion is impolite? Also, what would you have preferred I did? Asked you to politely pour off the pasta water from my plate? Come up with a new, tastier stuffing for the ravioli while I wait? If that's how you let dishes leave the kitchen and land on the table, then that's on you and the food you serve. Take ownership of that. It's quite clear your reaction is an attempt to turn the situation around and make it seem like this is all the imagination of a capricious guest, meanwhile not being able to accept the fact that what I was given was mediocre at best. Indeed, you asked me how the food was after my second course. I replied, quite clearly, that it was OK. And it was. 2/5. Nothing special. Happy to leave and never come back.
Thank you for pointing out I even used the bread to soak up some of the sauce, as one does 😂 Of course I finished my food. It was 9 p.m. I'm not going to go look around for a new restaurant for dinner. The fact that it was edible doesn't mean it was good 👍
This review is blatantly honest. Shame you can't handle a few...
Read moreI saw that they had a really nice menu and was really hoping to try out more items but we wanted to place an order to go and they only offered pizza to go.
Put in an order over the phone and they said to come in around 40 to 45 minutes but when we went there it was clear that they hadn't even started the order yet.
Had to wait at least 10 or 15 minutes more while other customers got their orders and then person made our pizza. Guy making the pizza seemed really fun and nice though and smiled when ever we made eye contact. He seemed to have a good rapport with all the other stuff so that's a nice sign as well.
All the pizzas were absolutely delicious!
Vegetarian pizza was somehow amazing! Good amount of vegetables on there and I added some chili flakes and it was unbelievable.
Sausage and mushroom pizza is also hit with the family.
I think everyone loved the spicy salami pizza a little extra because we usually like spicy food.
Also ended up getting the Pistachio Aranchini because they had them ready already. Really nice flavor in there. From what I could tell they had pistachio cream and some ham inside as well along with the rice. Quite a nice appetizer. They're croissanty on the outside and nice...
Read moreHaving read favourable reviews we were somewhat disappointed to find Da Mimì closed on Tuesday evening - despite Google’s suggestion that it was open. (Mr Gregory’s just down the street was a poor alternative - see my separate review!) However, trying again the following night and we were treated to a great dining experience. Friendly, attentive and quick waiting service, despite the fact that there seemed to be only two waiters and the restaurant was almost full by 19:30. The restaurant itself was clean, bright, well lit and with plenty of room between tables. (Something Mr Gregory’s might want to take note of.) The food was also very good. Sure, we only ordered pizzas and, how difficult can pizzas be in an Italian restaurant?! Well some places do pizzas far better than others and this is definitely one of the better places. The dishes being served to other tables also looked very nice and I suspect we’ll pay another visit later in the week to try the pasta for ourselves. The price for 3 pizzas, 1 side, 2 soft drinks, 1 glass of Prosecco and the €2 per person cover charge came to €44. Very reasonable and I strongly recommend this place for anyone visiting the...
