Full disclosure. I’m a brewer from The Alchemist in the USA, visiting Milan after a work trip to Spain and was very much looking forward to trying local Milanese beer and sharing some of our beer (Heady Topper and Focal Banger) with the local brew pub.
When I entered, the bar looked really fun! Good music and lots of locals enjoying themselves. I don’t speak much Italian but tried to order the Pilsner and Double IPA as written on the chalkboard. The bartender immediately waved me off. I tried ordering a second time and he had another patron repeat my order to him in Italian. That’s fine with me. I was told that it would take 5 mins to pour. Ok. I’m a brewer and know some styles take a while to pour, but a pils and IPA? I think not.
I waited patiently to the side while other patrons came up to the bar, ordered, and received their beer immediately. After watching this for about 10 minutes, I sadly left disappointed. I know bars get busy and mistakes made but this seemed intentional and rude. I’m grateful that our brewery and those around Vermont do not treat our patrons this way no matter where...
Read moreMy wife and I first went to Birrificio Lambrate 6 years ago and instantly loved the place. The music and décor are just our style, the beer is fresh and tastes amazing. Their afternoon aperitivo is fantastic, especially for vegetarians with plenty to choose from. I think the best thing about this place is the focus they put on the importance of representing the local area and embracing the Lambrate vibe. Although their staff and locals may dress up in leather jackets, ride motorcycles and look somewhat intimidating, I’ve never been welcomed more by friendly people into a bar than what we experienced in our brief visits to Birrificio Lambrate. I’ve drank beer all over the world and worked in bars for years, more places need to focus on creating a community, quality product and a relaxed environment for their customers like the Lambrate team. Arrivederci guys and all the best...
Read moreI have been to this location a couple of times and honestly prefer the other location. Each time I have been here (with the exception of one time) I was talked to quite rudely and made to wait for 5-10 minutes for my beer. I was a bartender back in Canada for 5 years and it does not take that long to pour a pilsner. I realize what they were doing, which was serving the people taking their drink outside first instead of staying in the bar. Making the people drinking in the bar wait, while their beer goes flat, is wrong. They also pour the beer incorrectly and touch the draft faucet to the inside of the glass. Do you know how unhygienic that is and how much bacteria that spreads? Please learn proper beer pouring etiquette, especially since this is a brew pub. And finally, stop being rude to foreigners who are trying really hard to learn the language and order correctly. That...
