Read moreWe nearly cancelled our reservation at the Taverna Travestere this evening as we had slightly over did the sightseeing in 35 degrees of heat. Glad we didn't as after a 15minute walk to the restaurant we arrived and seated with minimum fuss. I went for the tartar which was really fresh although simplistic in that it was just a pate of raw Angus beef and maldon salt unlike more traditional tartar which comes with cornichones onion and raw egg yoke. Never mind it was still tasty. My wife had a raw artichoke and parmesan salad with a nice dressing. For mains my wife had a green salad and I had the saltinboca which was very good with lots of jus/gravy ideal for scarpetta. Finished meal off with a lovely tiramasu best one this trip. We chatted to the person who processed our bill and we said we had visited the original restaurant in London and that Milan version was much more enjoyable The London venue mure trattoria daily run with emphasis on pizza whereas the Milan version a nicer experience all round. GRAZIE MILE to the entire Taverna Travestere team. Unlikely too return unless Bruce Springsteen schedules a return to the San Siro in the future but would happily recommend. Fernando Nieto in Milan for the Springsteen gig and visiting...
Read moreElegant place with 2 floors and a terrace. Has some roman sculpture decor. Please note they charge 5 euros service per person. I ordered artichokes as a side, crispy, but lacking flavours. As a main I had the lamb chops. It was correct, but nothing neither special nor complex and unsalty. Surprisingly I like the most the bread, crunchy outside and moist and fluffy inside. What I really did not like is that they do not put the prices of wine by the glass. I kindly ask if I could try 2 wines they suggested to me, and they said that they do not let to try wines by the glass. Therefore, unless you know the wine, is a gamble. The one I got seemed of quality, but lame, uncomplex and not of my taste. It cost 10 euros per glass. I was therefore discouraged to order any other wine. The bill in total 63 euros that is correct, just my experience, quality of food and service below expected. The place for elegant friend or small family...
