La Torretta del Pescatore — Restaurant in Monopoli

Rather bad experience in comparison to other restaurants in the region. Their business model is focused on boosting total order sums and treating tourists as wallets. Firstly, after passing by a man whose only role is to show the proper way to the entrance (he could be replaced with a sign), the waitress took us to a room with a display of seafood. Nice, but unnecessary step because one does not see it when placing the actual order. Then, she convinced us to take one fish per two (we asked her twice if this is enough) and add salads, vegetables as well as potatoes to it. It could have been OK, but she "forgot" to tell that the fish will be already accompanied by such additions. As a result we ended with a pile of vegetables (even some we were not sure to have been ordered) and a smallest piece of fish we ever got for twice as much money. The incredible noise from a nearby amusement park totally prevented us from talking to each other and too much waiters around were also not helpful. We left this place with a relief and...

Went in to enjoy seafood, came out very satisfied. We came in at a time that the kitchen was closing and not all dishes were still available, but the friendly waiter, Pippo, was apologetic, yet helpful to find alternatives. Generally staff was friendly. We had breaded shrimp, fried fish mixture and fish of the day. All very tasty, fresh and prepared perfectly. Waiter can assist to clean your fish. No hidden costs, the restaurant is mid range, but in all fairness we're less familiar with pricing in this area of Italy. Possibly upper mid range based on the size of the dish. Ask what additions are included in the main dish, not be surprised or hungry after...

Really poor service. We arrived at our booking time yet we were told to wait for 15 minutes while they mopped the floors. They didn't offer us a place to sit or even a drink while we waited. We had to wait an hour for two simple dishes even though there were only 8 diners there at the time. One of the waitresses - the short older one was rude throughout the evening. She tutted loudly when she saw a small stain on the table and accused us of having had two bottles of water instead of one, and tried to charge us for it. When I asked for a local beer she brought one that ended up costing 13 euros! Overpriced place with poor...
