The food in this restaurant is simply outstanding. Innovative, with a fresh take on some Italian classics (the brioche carbonara small plate being a fantastic example) and a definite international influence (primarily Spanish, again the thinly fried pasta with smoked mussels small plate is an example) influenced by a very well travelled and accomplished chef/owner. My meal here was as good as many I have had in Michelin starred restaurants. My wife and I don’t eat meat but our guests had the beef tartare and rated it the best they ever tasted, same again for their suckling pig and lamb main courses. My fish and my wife’s pasta were top class. Fresh and bursting with Umami. Service was excellent, big shout out to Cynthia our server who was a joy and to the chef who came to our table to check how we enjoyed the food. What could be better ? The red wine list is small, perhaps a sign of summer when there is less demand here and also perhaps reflects the fact the restaurant is new and still building a cellar. All in all a fantastic experience and one I would highly recommend. More expensive than the average restaurant in Monopoli for sure but not remotely expensive for the quality of food and service. I’ve paid twice as much and more for meals not half as good in London and other capital cities. The location is a ten minute walk north out of the old town in a non descript semi-commercial area. Perhaps that is why it was quiet the night we were there. There are many good restaurants in downtown Monopoli but trust me this one is worth a ten minute walk...
Read moreIt sometimes takes a degree of intrepidation to leave the comfort of tourist centres for dinner as a holiday maker. This restaurant proves that one should always step out of the tourist traps and experience the best of the best of local cuisine. From start to finish truly excellent service, ‘silver-service’ from the lovely Cinzia without being in your face, a true pleasure throughout. The food is truly where this place excels, chef Domenico seamlessly melds gastronomic ingenuity, including the unmissable carbonara toast and well-balanced red mullet risotto, with flawless technique, able to put a simple lamb, veg, and sauce combination on the menu and make it the star of the show with a simply perfect lamb sauce. Mastery of seasonal ingredients is clearly shown by the use of end of season figs in a dessert which cannot be described as anything else but perfect. Frankly this restaurant boasts the best food you will eat in Puglia and my only non-positive comment is that it was not more busy, what a shame as it should be the busiest...
Read moreI recently had dinner in Monopoli at this new restaurant. I found it very interesting and particular in the combinations while preserving the freshness and seasonality of the product. We were invited by a friend who was celebrating his 50th birthday we did not know the place. The.chef Domenico, is very good only after dinner we found out he has worked for restaurants with 1 and 2 Michelin Stars but in Spain. Among the dishes my favorite was the risotto with cream of turnip greens and mussels, really a delicate flavor but at the same time strong. Tasty and original Even the caronara-flavored finger food appetizer Even the dessert not bad indeed really exceptional. A scarpetta of almond cream with bread strictly made by the chef. It is outside the historic center, and that sound great because of the parking The prices are fair. The menu consists of a few but exquisite courses. A...
